A Private with the Army Service Corps, James died on 6th of November 1918 aged 40. James was born at Lowestoft in 1878, a son of Samuel and Charlotte Barnard. In 1881 his family lived at 9 Colville Road, Kirkley. The 1891 Census appears to show James with his aunt and uncle, Jane and William Williams, at 20 Arnold Street. By 1901 he was living with his parents at 8 Beckham Road and working as a carter.   Pension Record Card
A Private with 2nd Battalion, Herbert died on 26th of February 1917 at the age of 23. Herbert was born at Gillingham, near Beccles, on 12 June 1893, a son of Herbert James and Emma Charlotte Roe. He was baptised at Gillingham on 17 September 1893. By 1901 his family were living at Gate House, Marsh Lane, Carlton Colville. This was still their address in 1911 when Herbert worked as a bullock tender on a farm. Later his parents lived at 118 Old Palace Road, Norwich.  Pension Record Card
A Private with the 8th Battalion, Frederick died on 23rd of October 1917 at the age of 37. Frederick was born at Barnby, Suffolk, in 1881. He was a grandson of Jonathan and Mary Girling and is believed to have been the son of their daughter Hannah. If so, he was baptised at Barnby on 13 February 1882.  Pension Record Card
A Guardsman with 6th Bn., John died on 21st of September 1943 at the age of 21. John was born at Lowestoft on 19 January 1922, a son of Allen Edwin and Edith May Moore of Lowestoft Suffolk. In 1939 his family lived at 97 Cambridge Road, Lowestoft, and John was a draper's shop assistant.  1939 Register
A Sergeant with 217 Squadron, William died on 30th of September 1940 aged 21.William was born at Wandsworth, London, on 19 August 1919, a son of William and Helen Alice Wake. He was baptised at Harrow Weald on 25 January 1920 and his family lived at The Cottage, Harrow Weald. In 1921 his family lived at ‘Simplicity’, Old Fort Road, Shoreham-by-Sea. William’s father died and in 1927 his mother married Selwyn Wollaston Humphrey of Oulton Broad Lowestoft. CWGC and 1939 Register
An Able Seaman with H.M.S. Phaeton., James died on 27th of September 1919 at the age of 23. James was born at Carlton Colville on 23 May 1897, a son of Edwin and Sarah Bullock. He was baptised at Saint Peter's Church, Carlton Colville, on 12 September 1897, and his family lived at Carlton Colville. By 1901 his father had died and his family lived at 2 White Horse Street, Lowestoft. By 1911 they were living at 5 Compass Street, Lowestoft, and James was a baker's errand boy. James' mother married John Moore in 1917.  Pension Record Card
A Seaman with H.M. Trawler Comet. Jack died on 30th of September 1940 at the age of 24. Jack was born at Kessingland on 12 September 1916, a son of Isaac John and Edith Annie Catchpole. He was baptised at Saint Edmund's Church, Kessingland, on 15 October 1916, and his family lived at 4 Belvidere, Kessingland Beach. By 1939 his family were living at 6 The Ridge, Kessingland, and Jack worked as a fisherman (weekly articles)On 30 September 1940 the Comet sank after hitting a mine off Falmouth.
