A Private with 1st Regiment, Charles died on 8th of April 1917 at the age of 30. Charles was born at Great Yarmouth on 8 July 1886, a son of Henry James and Isabel Elizabeth Lane. He was baptised at Gorleston, on 6 August 1886. In 1891 his family lived at The Star Hotel, Great Yarmouth, where is father was the proprietor. By 1901 his family were living at 66 Southtown Road, Gorleston, and Charles was a pupil at Beccles College. By 1911 Charles' father had died and his mother lived at The Hollies, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft.  CWGC
Francis George Kirby
A Private with the 7th Battalion, Francis died on 3rd of July 1916 at the age of 22. Francis was born at Kirkley on 9 December 1893, a son of Charles James and Phoebe Kirby. He was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Kirkley, on 6 April 1894. In 1901 his family lived at 16 Lorne Road, and this was Francis’ home for the rest of his life. In 1911 he worked as a bricklayer’s labourer.Francis enlisted in the Army at Lowestoft and joined the Suffolk Regiment, service number 23471. He was posted to the 7th Battalion in France. A Second Hand with H.M. Drifter Dewey, Robert died on 12th of August 1917 at the age of 50. Robert was born at Lowestoft on 27 September 1867, a son of Robert and Agnes Clara Hall. Robert was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 7 June 1868. In 1871 his family lived at Rant Score East. By 1881 they were living at 5 Raglan Street North. In 1891 Robert lived at 11 Barsham Square, East Street, and it seems that Robert was a ‘shoreman’.  RNR Service records
A Private with the 3/6th Battalion, Herbert died on 24th of October 1917 at the age of 27. Herbert was born at Woodbridge, Suffolk, on 13 July 1890, a son of John and Martha Copping. He was baptised at Woodbridge on 31 August 1890. In 1891 his family lived at Cumberland Street, Woodbridge. By 1901 they were living at 17 Hamilton Street, Ramsey, Essex, and this was still their home in 1911. Pension Record Card
A Private with 2/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion, Frederick died on 19th of July 1916 at the age of 17. Frederick was born at Ipswich about 1899, a son of Albert William and Emily Barkaway. In 1901 his family lived at Anmess' Yard, Stoke Street, Ipswich. By 1911 they had moved to Lowestoft and lived at 8 Jacob's Street Lowestoft. 1911 Census
A Private with the 1/4th Battalion, Cecil died on 26th of September 1917 at the age of 21. Cecil was born at Lowestoft in 1896, a son of Charles and Lucy Layton. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 19 July 1896. In 1901 his family lived at 23 Jacob’s Street, and this was the family home for the rest of Cecil’s life. In 1911 Cecil worked as a boot repairer’s assistant. Cecil volunteered and enlisted in the Army at Lowestoft. He joined the Suffolk Regiment, service number 2062, and was posted to the 6th (Cyclist) Battalion.  Pension Record Card
A Second Lieutenant with 19th Reserve Squadron Royal Flying Corps, William died on 13th of May 1917 at the age of 28. William was born at Lowestoft on 16 August 1888, a son of Sidney and Sarah Isabella Smith. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 20 September 1888. In 1891 his family lived at 10 Mariners Street. A Stoker 1st Class with H.M.S. Scott, Alfred died on 15th of August 1918 at the age of 18. Alfred was born at Fritton on 13 October 1899, a son of Alfred William and Emma Kett Daniels. He was baptised at Fritton on 26 November 1899, and his family lived at Fritton. In 1901 his family lived at 45 England Lane, Gorleston, and by 1911 they were living at 15 Lothing Street, Lowestoft.  In 1917 Alfred married Dorothy Ann Boyce: this was registered in the Mutford district. By 1918 Dorothy was living at 2 Run Cottages, Flixton, Lowestoft.  Pension Record Card
John James Kerridge
A Private with 7th Bn. John died on 12th of August 1916 at the age of 21. John was born at Cransford, Framlingham, Suffolk, in 1895, a son of Joseph William and Catherine Rebecca Kerridge. He was baptised at Saint Peter's Church, Cransford, on 20 October 1895. By 1901 his family were living at 83 Cambridge Road, Lowestoft, and by 1911 at 60 Saint Margaret's Road, and John, like his father, was a bootmaker. Later his parents lived at 15 Ipswich Road, Lowestoft. Note some civil records refer to John by his middle name, James.  Pension Record Card
A Lance Corporal with the 1st Battalion, Edward died on 23rd of April 1917 at the age of 26. Edward was born at Kirkley in 1891, a son of George and Louisa Church. In 1891 his family lived at 2 Sayers Cottages, Carlton Road. In 1901 their address was 2 Aston Cottages, Carlton Road. In 1911 Edward worked, and lived, at Wheatacre House, Carlton Colville, where he was a domestic gardener. Edward was a brother of Flora Harriet Lennox, formerly Church, and Charles Church, of Myrtle Cottages, Barnby, Beccles, Suffolk. 1911 Census
