A Deck Hand with H.M. Drifter Campania II, Charles died on 5th of March 1917 at the age of 35. Charles was born at East Bridge, Theberton, Suffolk, on 18 March 1881, a son of William and Emma Cable. In 1891 his family lived at The Common, Leiston. By 1901 Charles was a fisherman and he lodged at 54 Saint Peter’s Street, Lowestoft, with the Girdlestone family. On 4 March 1906 Charles married Ethel Maud Rebecca Howes at Saint Peter’s Church, Kirkley. By 1911 they were living at 74 Tennyson Road. Later Ethel married George Andrews and lived at 58 Ipswich Road. Pension Record Card
Karl Ferdinand Arnold
A Captain with 1st Bn., Karl died on 23rd of April 1915 at the age of 27.  Karl was born at Penarth, Cardiff on 19 March 1888, a son of Franck Thomas and Edith Maud Arnold. His grandfather was Reverend Charles Thomas Arnold, of Rugby, and his grandmother, Susanna Magdalena Arnold, lived at 4 High Street, Lowestoft. A Private with 2nd Battalion, Percy died on 7th of May 1916 at the age of 24. Percy was born at Lowestoft in 1892. Commonwealth War Graves records show that he was a son of Caroline Susanna Armes and Athol Burroughs. Percy’s mother died in 1894 and he became the foster son of Mark and Harriet Carver. In 1901 the family lived at Fern Villa, 2 Commodore Road, Oulton Broad, later his foster parents lived at 2 Jasmine Terrace, Commodore Road.. 1901 Census
Herbert Henry Lambert
A Rifleman with 9th Bn., Herbert died on 25th of September 1915 at the age of 24. Herbert was born at Lowestoft in 1891, a son of Herbert John Arthur and Fanny Lucy Lambert. In 1901 his family lived at 49 Mariners Street, Lowestoft. By 1911 they were living at 1 Compass Street, Lowestoft, and Herbert assisted in his father's carting business. Herbert served with D Squadron of the Suffolk Yeomanry for five years. A Private with the 2nd Battalion, Ferguson died on 21st of March 1918 at the age of 31. Ferguson was born at Norwich on 26 April 1887, a son of William Mitchell and Emma Betts. In 1891 his family lived at 7 Cardiff Road, Norwich. He was baptised at Saint Thomas, Heigham, Norwich, on 28 November 1894, and his family lived at 26 Denbigh Road. A Private with 129 Coy., Charles died on 27th of October 1917 at the age of 39. Charles was born at Lowestoft in 1878, a son of Edmund and Elizabeth Mantripp. Note that in some records his first name is given as Ramsey, or Ramey, and in others as Raymond. In 1881 his family lived at 22 North Raglan Street, Lowestoft. By 1891 they were living at 23 Jacob's Street. In 1911 they lived at 25 Cathcart Street, Lowestoft, and Charles worked for the Great Eastern Railway Company as a painter plumber.  Pension Record Card
A Private with the 10th Battalion, Ernest died on 8th of August 1918 aged 22. Ernest was born at Lowestoft in May 1896, a son of Peter and Annie Cooper. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church on 14 October 1896. Throughout Ernest’s life his family lived at 10 Cathcart Street. From 1 February 1904 Ernest attended Saint Margaret’s School. In 1911 Ernest was a confectioner’s errand boy.   Pension Record Card
A Private with the 21st Battalion, William died on 27th of May 1918 aged 19.William was born at Newcastle-On-Tyne in 1899, a son of William and Effie Goddard. In 1901 his family lived at 22 Honiton Road, Romford and by 1911 they lived at 10 Beresford Road, Lowestoft. In 1921 his parents lived at 304 Dereham Road, Norwich, but afterwards moved back to Lowestoft and lived at 128 Beaconsfield Road. Pension Record Card
A Private with the Army Service Corps, James died on 6th of November 1918 aged 40. James was born at Lowestoft in 1878, a son of Samuel and Charlotte Barnard. In 1881 his family lived at 9 Colville Road, Kirkley. The 1891 Census appears to show James with his aunt and uncle, Jane and William Williams, at 20 Arnold Street. By 1901 he was living with his parents at 8 Beckham Road and working as a carter.   Pension Record Card
A Sergeant with the 11th Battalion, Stanley died on 28th of April 1917 at the age of 22.Stanley was born at Great Yarmouth in 1894, a son of Frederick and Kate Gibbs. In 1901 his family lived at 65 Winifred Road, Great Yarmouth. In 1911 his family lived at 31 Tennyson Road, Lowestoft, and Stanley worked as a draper’s porter. Later his parents lived at 29 Alexandra Road. Pension Record Card
