A Private with 75th Bn. Henry died on 1st of March 1917 at the age of 32. Henry was born at Carlton Colville on 9 August 1883, a son of George and Martha Maria Hawkes. He was baptised at Saint Michael's Church, Oulton, on 16 September 1916 and his family lived at Carlton Colville. In 1891 his family lived at Church Road, Rock Estate. By 1901 they were living at 2 Garfield Cottage, Hall Road, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft. Henry moved to Canada in 1909 and by 1911 was living at Toronto.  1911 Census
A Skipper with Sailing Trawler Queen Bee (Lowestoft), Charles died on 4th of July 1916 at the age of 51. Charles was born at Carlton Colville in 1860, a son of Robert and Lydia Pitchers. He was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Carlton Colville, on 7 April 1861. In 1861 his family lived at Railway Gate House, Carlton Colville, and this was still their home in 1871. In 1891 they lived at Hall Cottage, Oulton. Later Charles’ father, and his son Charles Henry, lived at 2 Rock Dene, Moyes Road, Rock Estate, Oulton Broad Lowestoft. 1911 Census
A Private with 1st New Zealand Stationary Hospital, Thomas died on 23rd of October 1915 at the age of 26. Thomas was born at Banbury, Oxfordshire, on 18 May 1889, a son of Robert Thomas and Harriett Elizabeth Kirk. He was baptised at Christchurch, Banbury, on 27 August 1889 and at that time his family lived at Prospect Terrace, Banbury and his father was a Recruiting Sergeant with the Oxfordshire Light Infantry. A Private with the 7th Battalion, Sam died on 28th of April 1917 at the age of 36. Sam was born at Oulton on 14 July 1880, a son of Henry and Hannah Websdale. He was baptised at Saint Michael’s Church, Oulton, on 31 May 1885, and his family lived at Oulton. In 1891 his family lived at Church Road, Oulton, and by 1901 at 1 Margarets Cottages, Moyes Road, Oulton, and Sam worked as a bricklayer’s labourer. This was still the family home in 1911 when Sam was still a bricklayer’s labourer.  Register of Soldiers Effects
A Private with 10th Company, Jonas died on 3rd of May 1917 at the age of 23. Jonas was born at Lowestoft on 20 July 1893, a son of Jonas and Ellen Annis. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 9 August 1893, and his family lived at 16 Mariners Street, Lowestoft. Jonas’ father died in 1895 and his mother married Edward Ashby. In 1901 his family lived at Woods Loke, Oulton, Lowestoft. By 1911 they were living at 12 Fir Lane, Lowestoft, and Jonas was a brickmaker’s labourer.   Pension Record Card
A Private with the 11th Battalion, Clement died on 3rd of April 1917 at the age of 32. Clement was born at Griston, near Watton, in 1884, a son of Henry and Martha Crisp. He was baptised at Griston on 9 November 1884.In 1901 his family were living at White House Cottages, Carlton Colville, and Clement was a carter on a farm. By 1911 they were living at Beccles Road, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, and Clement worked as a drift net fisherman. Pension Record Card
George Valentine Bessey
A Private with 1st Bn., George died on 27th of May 1915 at the age of 30. William was born at Oulton on 14 February 1885, a son of William and Sarah Bessey. He was baptised at Saint Michael’s Church, Oulton, on 15 March 1885. In 1891 his family lived at Yarmouth Road, Oulton. By 1901 George's mother had died and his family lived next to Rose Cottage, The Street, Oulton, and in by 1911 they were living at 4 The Street, Oulton.    1911 Census
A Private with the 2nd Battalion, Herbert died on 26th of September 1917 at the age of 20.Herbert was born at Forncett Saint Mary, Norfolk, in 1897, a son of Frederick and Sarah Ann Drake. In 1901 his family lived at Norwich Road, Forncett St. Mary. By 1911 they were living at Victoria Road, Oulton Broad, and Herbert was a jobbing gardener.  In 1916 Herbert married Elsie Sabina Bryant: this was registered in the Mutford district. In 1918 Elsie lived at 4 Waveney Cottages, Beccles Road, Oulton Broad. Pension Record Card
A Private with 10th Bn., William died on 29th of June 1915 at the age of 34. William was born at Oulton in 1880, a son of William and Sarah Bessey. He was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Carlton Colville, on 31 October 1880. In 1881 his family lived at The Street, Oulton, and in 1891 they were living at Yarmouth Road, Oulton. By 1901 William’s mother had died and his family lived next to Rose Cottage, The Street, Oulton, and in by 1911 they were living at 4 The Street, Oulton, and William worked as a plumber’s mate with the water and gas company.   1911 Census
A Private with the 2/7th Battalion, Arthur died on 9th of September 1917 at the age of 18.Arthur was born at Oulton Broad in 1898, a son of Edward and Emma Cullingford. He was baptised at Saint Mark’s Church, Oulton Broad, on 13 July 1899. In 1901 his family lived at the grocer’s shop, Bridge Road, Oulton Broad, and this was still their home in 1911. 1911 Census
