A Chief Engineer with Fishing Vessel Westfield (Milford Haven), George died on 6th of July 1941 aged 48. George was born at Lowestoft on 25 April 1893, a son of Albert Harry and Mary Ann Coleman. In 1901 his family lived at 61 Clemence Street and in 1911 at 6 A Carlton Road, Pakefield, and George was a fisherman.  Probate
A Third Hand with Fishing Vessel Leach’s Romance (Shoreham), George died on 29th of July 1940 aged 43. George was born at Lowestoft on 24 August 1896, a son of Frederick James and Emma Hindes. In 1901 his family lived at 2 Mummery Buildings ‘rear of Till Road’ and this was still their home in 1911. By 1914 George was living at 19 Cathcart Street.  Merchant Navy Casualty Card

A Seaman with H.M. Trawler Cayton Wyke. Russell died on 8th of July 1940 at the age of 19. Russell was born at Lowestoft on 11 July 1921, a son of Charles Nathanial and Eva May Keable. In 1939 his family lived at 107 Notley Road, Lowestoft, and Russell worked as a fisherman. In May 1940 the Cayton Wyke was involved in the Dunkirk evacuations and is credited with rescuing over 600 men. On 8 July 1940 the Cayton Wyke was sunk by a German motor torpedo boat off Goodwin Sands. All 18 of the crew, including Russell, were killed.  1939 Register

Arthur Reeve Jarvis
A Petty Officer 1st Class with H.M.S. Vanguard, Arthur died on 9th of July 1917 at the age of 40. Arthur was born at Ipswich on 10 February 1876, a son of Samuel John and Maria Jarvis. Note, some records give his year of birth as 1878, but his birth was registered in 1876. By 1881 Arthur’s father had died and his mother married William Keeble, and the family lived at California, Wickham Market, Suffolk, and this was still their address in 1901.  CWGC
A Private with 2/1st Buckinghamshire Battalion, George died on 19th of July 1916 at the age of 22. George was born at Oulton, Lowestoft, on 29 January 1894, a son of Dennis Edward and Sylvia Carver. He was baptised at Saint Michael's Church, Oulton, on 18 March 1894. In 1901 his family lived at 1 Fern Villa, Commodore Road, Oulton. By 1911 they had moved to Hill Cottage, Rock Estate, Oulton, and George worked as a labourer at an oil merchants.  Pension Record Card

A Chief Stoker with H.M.S. Oakley, Henry died on 26th of January 1944 aged 41. Henry was born at Deptford, London, on 23 January 1903, a son of Henry Jeremiah and Florence May. He was baptised at Saint John’s Church, Deptford, on 18 February 1903 and his family lived at 30 Nelson Street, Deptford. By 1911 they were living at 111 Dale Road, Canning Town.  Probate
A Second Engineer with Steam Trawler Newhaven (Lowestoft), Samuel died on 15th of January 1940 aged 44. Samuel was born at Oulton Broad in 1895, a son of Samuel James and Mary Anne Hood.
