An Engineman with H.M. Trawler Wyoming. Bernard died on 20th of May 1944 at the age of 28.Bernard was born at Sunderland on 9 March 1916, a son of Harold Humble and of Elizabeth Humble (nee McQue). In 1921 his family lived at 2 Long Bank, Sunderland. From the mid-1930s Bernard was a seaman in the merchant navy.Bernard married Marjorie Elsie Kathleen Ellis at Lowestoft in late 1939. Her address was 6 Margaret Cottages, Moyes Road, Oulton Broad, and Marjorie worked as a sausage maker.  CWGC and 1939 Register
Frank Samuel Church
A Skipper with Fishing Vessel S.D.J. (Lowestoft), Frank died on 11th of May 1947 aged 39.Frank was born at Lowestoft on 19 June 1907, a son of Alfred Charles and Scyllia Ann Church. In 1921 his family lived at 25 Norfolk Street. In 1937 Frank married Sophia Ann Reader Smith. By 1939 their home was at Fairview, 3 Higher Drive, and Frank was a fisherman.  Merchant Navy Casualty Card
An Engineman with H.M. Drifter Uberty. Sidney died on 7th of May 1941 at the age of 33. Sidney was born at Covehithe on 9 July 1907, a son of Alfred Charles and Charlotte Bond. In 1911 his family lived at Model Cottage, Henstead. By 1939 they were living at 11 Poplar Road, Carlton Colville, and Sidney worked as a stoker - herring fisherman. Sidney was serving on the Uberty when the drifter was bombed by German aircraft and sunk just off Lowestoft Harbour and all thirteen of the crew were lost.  1939 Register
An Engineman with H.M. Drifter Uberty. William died on 7th of May 1941 at the age of 42. William was born at Swaffham on 7 October 1898, a son of William and Rebecca Bye. He was baptised at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Swaffham, on 6 November 1898 and his family lived at Lynn Street, Swaffham. In 1901 his family lived at 90 Lynn Road, Swaffham, and they were still living at Lynn Road in 1911.  1939 Register
A Seaman with S.S. Ancona., Arthur died on 28th of May 1917.Arthur was born at Kessingland on 24 March 1893, a son of James and Jessie Curtis of Kessingland Lowestoft. He was baptised at Saint Edmund's Church, Kessingland, on 25 June 1893. In 1901 his family lived at Elm Cottages, Kessingland. By 1911 they were living at Tramway Terminus, London Road, Pakefield, and Arthur was a herring fisherman. In 1914 they lived at 3 Carlton Terrace, Pakefield. Arthur joined the Royal Naval Reserve on 29 December 1914. It seems that he served on Defensively Armed Merchant Ships.  Pension Record Card
A Second Lieutenant attached to the 2/5th Battalion, Basil died on 3rd of May 1917 at the age of 26. Basil was born at Lowestoft on 3 April 1891, a son of Arthur and Ruth Brewster. He was baptised at Christchurch, Lowestoft, on 27 April 1891, and his family lived at 32 Clapham Road. In 1901 his family lived at Waverley House, 110 Raglan Street.Basil volunteered and enlisted in the Army. He joined the Norfolk Regiment, service number 2197, and was posted to the 6th (Cyclist) Battalion. Basil was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the 2/6th Norfolk Regiment on 4 August 1915.  Probate

A Mate with Trawler Boy Sam (Lowestoft), William died on 12th of May 1916 at the age of 36. William was born at Lowestoft on 6 May 1880, a son of Alfred and Jane Hannah Meadows. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 6 June 1880. In 1881 his family lived at 6 Clapham Road, Lowestoft. William attended Clapham Road School before, on 14 November 1887, becoming a pupil at Saint Margaret’s School. By 1891 his family’s address was 228 Clapham Road. Later his mother lived at 4 Osborne Street, Lowestoft. Probate
Thomas John Brown
A Corporal with 2nd Bn., Thomas died on 9th of May 1915 at the age of 27. Thomas was born at Lowestoft in 1888, a son of Thomas William and Harriet Eliza Brown. By 1891 Thomas' father had died and Thomas, and his two brothers, were resident at Oulton Workhouse. Thomas' mother married Henry Sarll in 1894 and the family then lived at 1 Maltster's Score. In 1901 Thomas worked as a baker's lad. By 1911 his family were living at 31 Princes Road, Lowestoft, and later Thomas' mother lived at 15 Water Lane, Lowestoft. Pension Record Card
A Lieutenant with the Royal Indian Army Service Corps, Robert died on 9th of March 1943 aged 39. Robert was born at Kessingland on 9 June 1903, a son of Henry James and Celia Mallett. He was baptised at Saint Edmund's Church, Kessingland, on 5 July 1903. In 1911 his family lived at Lyndale Cottage, Whites Lane, Kessingland, and this was still the family home in 1921, by which time Robert was working as a carpenter for his father's building company. The family were still living at Lyndale Cottage in 1939, and Robert was a teacher of handicraft woodwork.  Probate
Leslie John NICHOLLS
A Leading Aircraftman with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, Leslie died on 23rd of March 1944 aged 32. Leslie was born at Lowestoft on 29 December 1911, a son of Alfred and Agnes Nicholls of Cyprus Cottages, Camps Heath.In 1938 Leslie married Lilian Mercy Kent. In 1939 they lived at 44 Hamilton Road, Felixstowe, and Leslie was a civilian high-frequency direction finding wireless operator working for the Royal Air Force at Felixstowe.  CWGC and 1939 Register
