Peter was born at Ramsgate in 1854, a son of William Blackler and Joanna (Ann) Moxey. By 1861 Peter's father had died and his family lived at 15 Regent Place, Ramsgate. By 1871 he was working at sea: in 1871 on the 'Frank of Ramsgate'; in 1879 as the Master of the 'Emma' (Ramsgate).
On 3 April 1874 Peter married Miriam Ruth Fuggle at Christchurch, Ramsgate.
A Deck Hand with Trawler Excel (Lowestoft), Archie died on 4th of June 1915 at the age of 17.
Archibald, often known as Archie, was born at Framlingham in 1898, a son of William and Catherine Goodwin. In 1901 his family lived at 20 Sandringham Road, Lowestoft. In 1911 Archie, and his sister, lodged at 4 Sandringham Road and he was at school but also worked as a baker's boy/errand boy.
A Mate with Trawler Excel (Lowestoft), Frank died on 4th of June 1915 at the age of 31.
Francis, also known as Frank, was born at Ramsgate in 1883, a son of Peter and Miriam Moxey. By 1891 his family was living at 94 Haward Street, Lowestoft, and in 1901 his family lived at 14 Beaconsfield Road, Lowestoft. Later his family lived at 4 Claremont Road, Lowestoft. By 1901 Francis was working as a fisherman.
A Third Hand with Trawler Excel (Lowestoft), Edward died on 4th of June 1915 at the age of 23.
Edward was born at Lowestoft in 1893, a son of Peter and Miriam Moxey. Note that birth registration indexes give his first name as Edwin, but all other documents state Edward.
In 1901 his family lived at 14 Beaconsfield Road, Lowestoft. Later his family lived at 4 Claremont Road, Lowestoft. By 1911 Edward was a fisherman and the 1911 Census lists him as an able seaman on the trawler G.V.E. at Padstow.

George was born at Lowestoft in 1898, a son of James and Mary Cleveland. He was baptised at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft, on 24 June 1898 and his family lived at Laundry Lane. They were still living at Laundry Lane in 1901. By 1911 George's father had died and his mother lived at 4 Strand Street, Lowestoft. Later she lived at 3 Spurgeon Street, Lowestoft.

In 1901 they lived at Wood's Buildings, Dove Street, and George was a labourer at the fish market. Later his parents lived at 9 Eastern Square, Whapload Road.

In 1881 his family lived at Ellough. By 1891 they were living at Beccles Road, Barnby, and William was a farm servant. In 1901 they lived at Barnby Green, Barnby, and William was fisherman. Later his parents lived at 2 Beanes Cottages, Kessingland.

Kenneth was born at Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, in 1891, a son of Alexander Gaviller Boyd and Charlotte Christian Boyd. By 1901 his family were living at Stronsay, Kirkley Cliff Road, Lowestoft.
An Able Seaman with H.M.S. Turbulent, Ernest died on 1st of June 1916 at the age of 36.
Ernest was born at Carlton Colville on 12 February 1880, a son of Robert George and Amy Georgiana Foulger. He was baptised at Saint Peter's Church, Carlton Colville, on 1 March 1880.
Ernest joined the Royal Navy as a Boy 2nd Class on 11 February 1896 and he served continuously in the navy until his death.
In 1901 his family lived at Jarvis Terrace, Carlton Colville, and by 1911 at 6, Epsom Terrace, Kirkley. (Later they would like at 6 Groom Terrace Kirkley Run Lowestoft).

Herbert was born at Kirkley on 30 March 1897, a son of Edward and Harriet Plant. He was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Kirkley, on 30 April 1897, and his family lived at 25 Lawson Road, and this would be Herbert’s home for the rest of his life. In 1911 Herbert worked as an office boy at an electricians.
A Drummer with the 8th Battalion, William died on 3rd of June 1916 at the age of 32.
William was born at Lowestoft on 3 September 1883, a son of Samuel and Louisa Garwood Ward. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church on 3 May 1886. In 1891 his family lived at 21 Reeve Street. By 1901 William was lodging at 40 Temperley Road, Streatham, and William was a gas-fitter’s apprentice.
A Company Quartermaster Sergeant with the 3rd Battalion, George died on 5th of June 1916 at the age of 62.
George was born at Morley, Wymondham, Norfolk, in 1854. He is believed to have been a son of John and Mary Wade, but he has not been found in any birth or census records.
George was working as a groom when he enlisted in the Army at Ipswich on 27 December 1876. He joined the Royal Artillery, service number 1518. George stated that he was nineteen years old. He served until 1 March 1879, when he was honourably discharged being unfit for further service.
A Deck Hand with H.M. Trawler Kaphreda., Ernest died on 8th of June 1916 at the age of 50.
Ernest was born at Wrentham on 16 April 1866, a son of William and Sarah Raven. He was baptised at Wrentham on 15 May 1866. In 1871 his family lived at Southwold Road, Wrentham. In 1881 they lived at Guyall (sic) Lane, Wrentham, and Ernest was an agricultural labourer. By 1891 they were living at High Street, Wrentham, and Ernest was a miller's labourer.
A Gunner with 4th Divisional Ammunition Column, John died on 15th of June 1916 at the age of 26.
John was born at Suffield, Norfolk, in 1889, a son of John Henry and Sophia Bugden. In 1891 his family lived at Elm Farm, Suffield, and this was still their home in 1911 when John work on the farm with his father. Later his parents lived at The Laurels, Rushmere.
In May 1911 John sailed for Australia.
A Lance Corporal with the 1/4th Battalion, Edward died on 19th of June 1916 at the age of 20.
Edward was born at Lowestoft on 21 October 1895, a son of Samuel Edward and Louisa Margaret Castleton. He was baptised at Christchurch, Lowestoft, on 4 December 1895, and his family lived at 20 Lawson Road, Lowestoft, and this would be Edward’s home for the whole of his life. In 1911 he worked as a bricklayer’s apprentice.
Edward enlisted in the Army at Lowestoft. He joined the Suffolk Regiment, service number 3556. In 1916 he was posted to the 1/4th Battalion in France.

A Private with 2/1st Bucks Battalion, Reginald died on 26th of June 1916 at the age of 22.
Reginald was born at Lowestoft in 1893, a son of Charles T. W. and Emily A, Castleton. By 1901 Reginald’s mother had died and the family lived at 152 Saint Peters Street, Lowestoft, this was Reginald’s home for the rest of his life. In 1911 Reginald worked as a grocer’s assistant.

James was born at Lowestoft on 7 February 1852, a son of William and Sarah Balls. He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 4 April 1852. In 1861 his family lived at 15 Jacob's Street, Lowestoft, and this was still their home in 1871 when James worked as a fisherman.

James was born at Norwich in 1855, a son of William and Sarah Buxton. In 1861 his family lived at Greyhound Lane, Heigham, Norwich. By 1871 they were living at West End Street, Norwich, and James was a bricklayer’s labourer.
In 1881 James was the Mate on the trawler Effort.
On 20 November 1882 James married Eliza Elizabeth Rounce at Saint Peter’s Church, Kirkley. James was a fisherman and they both lived at Kirkley. In 1891 they lived at 35 Saint Leonards Road.

Frederick was born at Ramsgate, Kent, on 19 January 1856, a son of Edmund and Sarah Watson. He was baptised at Saint George’s Church, Ramsgate, on 2 March 1856. In 1861 his family lived at Ramsgate.
A Private with the 10th Battalion, Timothy died on 29 June 1916, at the age of 32.
Timothy was born at Lowestoft on 15 July 1883, a son of Charles and Jane Sterry. In 1891 his family lived at 213 Clapham Road, Lowestoft, and by 1901 the family home was at 42 Queens Road, Lowestoft. By 1911 they had moved to 30 Park Road, Lowestoft. Timothy worked as a fish labourer.
An Engineman with H.M. Trawler Hirose, Harry died on 29th of June 1916 at the age of 36.
Harry was born at Lowestoft on 15 July 1879, a son of Charles and Eliza Rose. In 1881 his family lived at 34 Raglan Street, and, by 1891, they were living at 59 Raglan Street.
On 12 January 1902 Harry married Kate Ann Brown at Lowestoft. In 1911 they lived at 4 Kendal Road, Kirkley, and Harry was a steam crane driver for a coal merchant.
Harry joined the Royal Naval Reserve on 12 May 1916 and he served with the trawler Hirose.
A Trimmer with H.M. Trawler Whooper, James died on 30th of June 1916 at the age of 39.
James was born at Macclesfield, Cheshire, on 14 January 1877, a son of James E. and Sarah Ann Johnston.
In 1881 his family lived at 57 Saint George's Street, Sutton, Macclesfield. James attended Saint George's School, Macclesfield. By 1891 they were living at 1 Court 2, Higginbotham Road, Macclesfield, and James was a silk winder.
Note that in many official records James used his middle name Ernest, particularly the records of his military and naval service.

John was born at Lowestoft on 30 September 1878, a son of William Griffiths and Mary Ann Spooner. In 1881 his family lived at 7 Arnold Road, Lowestoft, and by 1891 they were living at County Villas, 5 Regent Road.
A Second Hand with H.M. Drifter George V, Alfred died on 3rd June of 1917 at the age of 34.
Alfred was born at Sotterley, on 18 August 1882, a son of Amos and Ellen Brown. In 1891 his family were living at 2 Kiln Road, Sotterly, but by 1901 they had moved to London Road, Kessingland, and Alfred had begun work as a fisherman.

Arthur was born at Kessingland on 1 November 1880, a son of Robert and Anna E. (aka Hannah) Cook. He was baptised at Saint Edmund’s Church, Kessingland, on 2 January 1881. In 1881 his family lived at Black Street, Gisleham. By 1891 they were living at Rushmere Road, Gisleham. In 1901 they were living at 2 Mill Hill, Gisleham. Later his parents lived at 6 Elizabeth Terrace, Kessingland.

Charles was born at Stradbroke, Suffolk, in 1897, a son of Edgar and Caroline Clarke. In 1901 his family lived at Church Lane, Stradbroke. In 1911 they lived at Chapel Cottages, Stradbroke, and Charles was an errand boy.
Charles' brother George Clarke lived at 21 Lothing Street, Oulton Broad Lowestoft.
A Lance Corporal with 1/7th Bn., Bramwell Robert Henry died on 7th of June 1917 at the age of 27.
Bramwell was born at Norwich in 1890, a son of William and Elizabeth Myhill. In 1891 his family lived at 40 Essex Street, Heigham, Norwich, and by 1901 his family at 195 Heigham Grove, Norwich. In 1911 Bramwell lodged at 35 Grosvenor Road, Lowestoft, and worked as a clerk in a grocer's store.
A Private with 8th Bn., John died on 7th of June 1917 at the age of 26.
John was born at Launceston, Tasmania, Australia, on 31 December 1891, a son of Charles Asquith Walker and Maude Clarke Walker. By 1901 his family were living at 88 Craven Road, Leeds, and in 1911 at 36 Shakespeare Road, Rotherham, and John worked as a chemist. James was born at Lowestoft on 23 August 1888, a son of James and Martha Ellen Edmonds. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 3 March 1889. In 1891 his family lived at 13 Wollaston Road, and this was still their home in 1901. By 1911 his parents were living at 44 Bevan Street.
A Private with the 9th Battalion, Edward died on 7th of June 1917 at the age of 25.
Edward was born at Lowestoft in 1891, a son of Frederick Woolnough and Emily Grace Wales. He was baptised at Saint John’s Church, Lowestoft, on 6 December 1891, and his family lived at 15 Clapham Road, and this was still their home in 1911 when Edward worked as a furnisher’s assistant.

William was born at Fulham, London, on 26 November 1896, a son of James and Lucy Ferguson. He was baptised at Saint Andrew’s Church, West Kensington, on 16 December 1896, and his family lived at 57 Brecon Road, Hammersmith, and this was his family’s home until at least 1911, when William worked as a G.P.O. telegraph messenger.

Ernest was born at Kessingland in 1881, a son of Harriet Turrell. In 1891 Ernest lived with his mother at The Street, Kessingland. Later his mother married George Winyard and lived at 4 Oaklands Terrace, London Road, Kessingland.
In 1908 Ernest married Agnes Mary Bentley: their married was registered in the Royston district. By 1911 they were living at 51 Meeson Road, Stratford, London, and Ernest worked as a drapery packer and a drapery warehouse.
A Private with the 2nd Battalion, Frederick died on 14th of June 1917 at the age of 39.
Frederick was born at Lowestoft in 1878, a son of Henry A. and Harriet Sparrow. In 1881 his family lived at 2 Saint Margaret’s Road, Lowestoft. In 1891 they lived at 5 Ingate Road, Beccles. By 1901 they were living at 233 Clapham Road, Lowestoft, and Frederick was a coach trimmer, and this was still their home in 1911 and Frederick was still working as a coach trimmer.
An Acting Bombardier with 154 Heavy Battery, John died on 15 June 1917 at the age of 29.
John was born at Hurley, near Cookham, Berkshire, in 1888, a son of Thomas and Fanny Eacott. He was baptised at Hurley parish church on 20 May 1888.
John served in the Royal Navy from 24 March 1904 to 12 May 1912 and became an Officer's Steward.
John married Elizabeth Goodridge at Southampton in 1916.

William was born at Lowestoft in 1883, a son of George William and Eliza Chandler. His family lived at 16 Thurston Road, but have not been found in the 1891 and 1901 censuses.
On 14 October 1905, William married Florence Alice Read at Saint Peter’s Church, Kirkley. William was a labourer and they both lived at Kirkley. In 1911 they lived at ‘rear of 41’ Thurston Road, and William was an assistant bailiff at the County Court. Later Florence lived at 11 Southwell Road.

Frederick was born at Lowestoft on 11 October 1878, a son of Edmund and Ann M. Redgrave. James was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 3 November 1878. In 1881 his family lived at 22 Mariners Street, Lowestoft. In 1891 his family lived Sudbury Cottages, 1 Bevan Street, Lowestoft. By 1901 his family were living at 12 Sandringham Road, Lowestoft, and Frederick was a fish packer.

In 1911 William was till lodging with Maria Baldry at 92 Cambridge Road and he worked as a grocer's assistant.

John was born at Pakefield on 10 February 1889, a son of Robert and Emily Julings. In 1891 his family lived at Old Rectory Cottage, 24 Pakefield Street, Pakefield. From 4 April 1892 John attended Cunningham Infant School. By 1901 they were living at 94 Pakefield Street, Kirkley, and, in 1911, 17 Pakefield Street and John worked as a yachtsman.

John was born at Monaghan, Ireland, on 27 September 1890, a son of Alexander and Kathleen Gibson. In 1901 his family lived at Monaghan, and by 1911 their home was at 1 Stanley Terrace, Monaghan. Later his parents lived at Victoria Villas, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft.
John was living at Hirsch, Saskatchewan, Canada, and working as a teacher, when he attested for the Canadian Army, at Regina, Saskatchewan, on 25 April 1916. John joined the 195th Battalion, service number 908098.

Horace was born at Wandsworth, London, on 8 October 1896, a son of Charles John and Louisa Sarah Horne. He was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Vauxhall, London, on 22 November 1898, and his family lived at 5 South Lambeth Road. In 1901 they lived at 208 Earlsfield Road, Wandsworth.

John was born at Oulton Broad in 1878, a son of John and Eliza Hines. He was baptised at Saint Michael’s Church, Oulton, on 2 March 1879. The 1881 Census shows John at Beccles Road with relatives Adam and Kezia Aggas. In 1891 John’s family lived at Church Road, Rock Estate, Oulton, and John was an agricultural labourer.
A Skipper with H.M. Drifter Ocean Fisher, Frank died on 16th of June 1918 at the age of 32.
Frank was born at Dublin on 6 April 1886, a son of William and Annie Broad. His father was a career soldier. In 1891 his family lived at The Barracks, Heston, Middlesex, and by 1901 they were living at Canterbury. Frank has not been traced in the 1901 Census. It is possible, though not confirmed, that Frank was a fisherman working of the trawler A.J.W., at Ramsgate, in 1904 and noted for having tried to rescue a colleague, and being badly burned, when the trawler caught fire.
A Leading Deck Hand with H.M. Drifter Ocean Fisher, Henry died on 16th of June 1918 at the age of 22.
Henry was born at Lowestoft on 27 January 1896, a son of James and Charlotte Harvey. In 1891 his family lived at 52 Haward Street. By 1911 they were living at 12 Avondale Road, and Henry worked as a fisherman.

In 1891 his family lived at Beccles Road, Carlton Colville, and in 1901 they lived at 2 Water Lane, and George was a house painter. Later his parents lived at 29 Harwarden Terrace, Oulton Broad.

Thomas was born at Langholm, Dumfriesshire, in 1889, a son of Thomas and Jane Blacklock. In 1891 his family lived at 3A Eskdaill Street, Langholm, and in 1901 at Skipperscleuch Cottage, Langholm.
Thomas enlisted in the Army at Glasgow. He joined the Lovats Scouts, service number 3137. He served with either the 2/1st or 2/2nd Lovat Scouts and in November 1916 these were merged to form the 1st (Lovats Scouts) Cyclist Regiment based at Lowestoft.

In 1901 his family were living at The Beach, Kessingland, and this was still their address in 1911, when Victor worked as an errand boy. Later his parents lived at 4 Geneva Cottages, Kessingland.

Alfred enlisted in the Army around August 1915. He joined the Suffolk Regiment, service number 21191. About February 1916 he was posted to the France. At some point in 1916 he was transferred to the Machine Gun Corps, service number 3707, and was posted to 51 Company.

John attended Saint Andrew's School before, from 14 January 1913, becoming a pupil at Saint John's School until leaving school on 18 December 1914 'to go to work.'

By 1939 his family were living at the Globe Inn, High Street, where Thomas’ father was the licensee. Later his parents lived at 14 Yeovil Road.

Henry was working as a hawker when he joined the Royal Navy, as a Boy 2nd Class, on 16 April 1925. He served until 23 February 1939 when he joined the Royal Fleet Reserve.

He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church on 15 March 1903 (the same day as his brother James) and his family lived at 65 Seago Street and this was still their address in 1911 and 1921. The 1921 Census states that Walter was 'in the Army.'

Maurice joined the Royal Air force Volunteer Reserve after April 1940. He was a Wireless Operator. In June 1942 he served with 85 Squadron.

Hedley was born at Lowestoft on 1 April 1921, a son of Charles Albert and Elizabeth May Balls. He was baptised at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft, on 22 April 1921 and his family lived at 39 Kimberley Road. By 1939 his family were living at 10 Minden Road and Headley worked as a shop assistant (provisions).
During World War Two Headley served on board H.M.S. Cocker. His ship was torpedoed and sunk, east of Tobruk, by a German motor-torpedo boat.

By 1911 Adelaide’s father had died and her family were living at 79 Arundel Road, Great Yarmouth, and this was still their home in 1921 when Adelaide was a dressmaker working for Arnolds at King Street, Great Yarmouth.

Cyril was born at Lowestoft on 28 September 1920. His mother was Alice Elizabeth Knights, nee Turrell, the widow of William Edward James Knights. In 1921 his family lived at 1 Rant Score, Lowestoft, and this was still his mother's address in 1939.
Cyril served on Landing Ship Tank 423. He died at the 2nd General Hospital, Tripoli, from accidental injuries: burns and a fractured femur.

Harry was born at Oulton Broad on 30 August 1923, a son of Frederick George and Annie Elizabeth Susan Segasby. In 1939 his family lived at 50 Notley Road Lowestoft.

Allen was born at Halesworth on 26 July 1921, a son of Frederick and Ethel Maud Dunnett. His family lived at 9 Quay Street, Halesworth. In 1941 Allen married Ivy May Lambert, of 18 Brickfields Cottages, The Street, Somerleyton.
Allen was a gardener when he enlisted in the Suffolk Regiment. He was posted to the 4th Battalion.

His family lived at The Shrubbery, White Hart Street, East Harling, Norfolk. By 1939 his family were living at 12 Whapload Road, Lowestoft, and Gerald worked as a printer's estimating clerk. Later his mother lived at Oulton Broad.

In 1941 William married Hazel Irene Bridge, this was registered in the Lothingland district. Hazel remarried in 1949 and lived at 25 Rounces Lane, Carlton Colville.
A Lieutenant with No. 41 R.M. Commando, Alec died on 6th of June 1944, at the age of 28.
Alec was a son of Alfred and Edith Aldis. Alfred was born at Southwold and moved to Lowestoft, with his wife Edith, before World War One.
During the First World War Alfred served in the Royal Naval Reserve, on trawlers Paramount and John Lincoln, and so he, and Edith, moved to Ramsgate, which is where their son Alec was born in 1916. By 1921 they had moved back to Lowestoft and in 1939 they lived at 14 Surrey Street.

As a young man John enjoyed football and cricket. He worked for Johnson and Company Limited, Wellington, as a warehouseman. Before joining the air force, he served in the Territorial Army for eighteen months.

John was born at Hockley, Birmingham, on 16 September 1922, a son of The Reverend Fred and Marion Frances Sylvester Williams. By 1939 John’s father had become the Vicar of Saint John’s Church, Lowestoft, and his family lived at Saint Johns Vicarage, 17, The Esplanade, Lowestoft.
John became an Officer Cadet and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Norfolk Regiment on 1 May 1943. He served with the 1st Battalion.

Victor was born at Oulton Broad on 7 January 1912, a son of Ernest and Florence Colby. In 1921 his family lived at 1 Oswald Cottages, Bridge Road.
On 13 December 1939 Victor married Elizabeth Codling at Saint Mark’s Church, Oulton Broad. Victor was a Petty Officer with the Royal Navy and gave his address as 5 Station Road, Sycamore Avenue, and Elizabeth lived at 25 Blackheath Road. Their home was at 22 Sycamore Avenue.

Frederick was born at Walthamstow on 15 September 1921, a son of Thomas James and Beatrice E. Deal. In 1939 he lived with his family at 1 Joscelyne Square, Leigh Hill, Southend-on-Sea, and Frederick worked as a signwriter.
Frederick married Sybil Bertha Brady, at Lowestoft, in 1943.
A Cook with H.M. Trawler Birdlip. Harry died on 13th of June 1944 at the age of 24.
Harry was born at Lowestoft on 30 May 1920, a son of Harry J. and Rhoda Fisher. In 1921 his family lived at 29 Pakefield Street, and this was still their address in 1939 when Harry worked as a sheet metal worker.
Harry married Kathleen Mary Butcher at Lowestoft in 1940.
Harry served on H. M. Trawler 'Birdlip' which was used as a 'submarine chaser'. On 13 June 1944 the Birdlip was torpedoed by submarine U-547 off the west coast of Africa. All of the crew, including Harry, were lost.
A Signalman with 56 Infantry Brigade, Ernest died on 14 June 1944, aged 19.

A Corporal with the 1st Battalion, Joseph died on 14th of June 1944 aged 21.
The Army Roll of Honour for World War Two states that Joseph was born at Lanarkshire, Scotland, and that he was living at Portsmouth when he enlisted. Commonwealth War Graves records state that his parents were William and Margaret Bryant. However, no civil records of his birth, or his parents, have been found.
In 1941 Joseph married Doris May Godfrey, this was registered in the Lothingland district. Doris’ family lived at 4 Winnipeg Road. Doris remarried in 1952.
A Private with the 1st Battalion, Frank died on 17th of June 1944 aged 20.
Frank was born at Lowestoft on 11 May 1924, a son of Russell Martin and Alice Mary Parnell. In 1939 his family lived at 59 Fir Lane and Frank was a coal hawker’s assistant.
Frank enlisted in the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment and was transferred to the East Surrey Regiment on 21 October 1943 and he served with the 1st Battalion in Italy.
A Lance Corporal with the 1st Battalion, Leslie died on 19th of June 1944 aged 31.

On 16 April 1937 Leslie married Eileen Edith Easey at Holy Trinity Church, Gisleham. In 1939 they lived at Glanvill, Rushmere Road, Carlton Colville, and Leslie was a solicitor’s clerk.
A Gunner with 51 (Midland) Medium Regiment, George died on 23rd of June 1944 aged 32.
George was born at Tunstall, Staffordshire, on 20 December 1911, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Ann Tatler. In 1921 his family lived at 12 Watergate Street, Tunstall.
In 1934 George married Ida Dorothy Jones, this was registered in the Mutford district. By 1939 they were living at 69 Waveney Crescent and George was a salesman.
A Leading Cook with H.M. Motor Minesweeper 8. Ernest died on 24th of June 1944 at the age of 29.

On 8 October 1938 Ernest married Irene Violet Jackson at Saint Peter's Church, Kirkley. Ernest and Irene were both living at Kirkley and Ernest worked as a labourer. By 1939 they were living at The Nest, Long Road, Lowestoft, and Ernest worked as a general labourer.
A Flight Sergeant with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, Leonard died on 25th of June 1944 aged 29.
Leonard was born at Oulton Broad on 31 July 1914, a son of Leonard and Edith Emma Mayhew. In 1921 his family lived at 31 Sycamore Avenue.
On 6 January 1935 Leonard married Margaret Caroline Beamish at Saint Michael’s Church, Oulton Broad. Leonard was a waterman living at 68 Sycamore Avenue and Margaret was a cook living at Hall Road. By 1939 they were living at Llanberis, Broad Road, and Leonard was a yacht steward. Margaret remarried in 1947.
A Private with the 2nd Battalion, Dennis died on 28th of June 1944 aged 21.
Dennis was born at Lowestoft on 19 June 1923, a son of William E. and Harriet E. Read. In 1939 his family lived at 125 Fir Lane, and Dennis was a painter’s assistant.
Dennis served with the Royal Norfolk Regiment before being transferred to the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment. He was posted to Italy to join the 2nd Battalion.
A Private with the 1st Battalion, Gordon died on 28th of June 1944 aged 19.
Gordon was born at Lowestoft on 27 November 1924, a son of Frederick and Emma Florence Jarvis. In 1939 his family lived at 2 Walmer Road and Gordon was a carpenter’s apprentice.
Gordon joined the Suffolk Regiment and served with the 1st Battalion in France. His battalion landed at Sword Beach on D-Day and went on to attack, and take, German positions at Colleville-sur-Orne before moving to a position near the Periers Ridge.
A Sergeant with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, Leslie died on 16th of June 1945 at the age of 28.
Leslie was born at Brampton, Huntingdonshire, on 27 December 1917, a son of George and Agnes Seaman. In 1921 his family lived at Brampton, Huntingdonshire. By 1939 they were living at 2 Council Houses, High Road, Saint Neots, and Leslie worked as a radio service engineer.
Leslie married Phyllis Victorine May Murkett in 1940: this was registered in the Saint Neots district. They lived at Buckden, Huntingdonshire.
A Private with the 5th Battalion, Arthur died on 22nd of June 1945 aged 31.
Arthur was born at Lowestoft on 9 July 1913, a son of Thomas William and Anne Elizabeth Collis. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church on 29 July 1913 and his family lived at 271 Raglan Street. In 1939 his parents lived at 1 Maidstone Road.
In 1937 Arthur married Ivy Baxter, this was registered in the Lothingland district. In 1939 they lived at Anstruthers, Chestnut Avenue, and Arthur was a butcher journeyman.
A Corporal with the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, John died on 17th of June 1946 aged 20.
John was born at Lowestoft on 11 July 1926, a son of Herbert C. and Olive M. Drake. Throughout his life John's family lived at 544 London Road, Lowestoft.
