A Chief Skipper with H.M. Trawler Myrtle, William died on 14 June 1940, aged 46.William was born at Lowestoft on 25 April 1894, a son of James and Mary Cleveland. He was baptised at Saint John’s Church on 25 May 1894 and his family lived at 7 Wollaston Road. In 1901 his family lived at Laundry Lane. By 1911 his father had died, and his family lived at 4 Strand Street. Later they lived at 3 Spurgeon Street. By the 1950s William’s mother lived at 273 Saint Peter’s Street.  the100, Mentioned in Despatches

A Deck Hand with the steam trawler William Humphries, George died on 21st November 1939 aged 27.George was born at Gisleham in 1912, a son of George and Maud Elizabeth Spillings. In 1921 his family lived at Black Street, Gisleham. By 1939 his parents were living at 4 Mill Villas, Gisleham. George was a fisherman and in 1939 he lived at 29 Poulton Road, Fleetwood.  the100
A Cable Hand with His Majesty's Telegraph Ship Monarch, Harry died on 8th of September 1915 aged 56.Harry was born at Wheatacre in 1859, a son of William and Joanna Seago. He was baptised at All Saints’ Church, Wheatacre, on 17 July 1859. In 1861 his family lived at The Railway Gate House, Aldeby. This was still their home in 1871 when the eleven year old Harry is recorded as working as an agricultural labourer. By 1881 Harry was working as a fisherman and living at Coleman Square, Lowestoft.  the100

A Mechanician 1st Class with H.M.S. Earraid, Robert died on 22 July 1946 at the age of 26. Robert was born at Kessingland on 28 December 1919, a son of Robert and Ellen (Ellie) Shade. In 1921 his family lived near Boundary Farm, Mutford. Robert’s mother died in 1934 and in 1946 his father lived at The Crown Inn, Mutford. Robert served with the Isles Class Trawler H.M.S. Earriad (T 297). Note: the Royal Navy War Graves Roll shows him 'with' H.M.S. Drake, this is because H.M.S. Drake was the accounting base for H.M.S. Earraid.  the100
Robert William Abbs
A Private with the 8th Battalion, Robert died on 19th of August 1916 at the age of 27. Robert was born at East Runton, Norfolk, about 1889, a son of Robert Abbs. No other details of Robert’s early life are known. He cannot be conclusively identified on any civil record. Note: there is no actual evidence that his first names were anything other than Robert William, and this are confirmed by the marriage register entry at Saint Margaret’s Church.   the100
John Howes
A Corporal with the 7th Battalion, John died on 19th of September 1917 at the age of 21.John was born at Wymondham in 1896, a son of Eliza Howes. His mother married John Elvin in late 1896. In 1901 his family lived at The Lizard, Wymondham, and this was still their address in 1911.   On 31 May 1915 John married Amelia Rudd at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, John was ‘a soldier billeted at Lowestoft’ and Amelia lived at 6 Love Road. Later Amelia lived at 4 Epsom Terrace, Kirkley Run. In 1919 she married Frederick Moxey. the100
A Private with the Royal Army Medical Corps, Cecil died on 6 May 1946 at the age of 27. Cecil was born at Carlton Colville in 1919, a son of Rudolph James and Annie Oakes. He was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Carlton Colville, on 13 July 1919, and his family lived at 13 Kimberley Road, Lowestoft. In 1921 his family lived at Shandwick, Chestnut Avenue, Lowestoft, and this was still their home in 1939 when Cecil was an unemployed barman.   In 1941 Cecil married Kae Eleanor Papworth: this registered in the Hendon district. A Civilian, Herbert died on 29 April 1942, at the age of 35.Herbert was born at Lowestoft on 14 September 1906, a son of Levi Herbert and Ellen Jane Elizabeth Brighton. He was baptised at Christchurch, Lowestoft, on 14 October 1906, and his family lived at 41 Lorne Road, Kirkley, and this was still their home in 1911. Herbert became a pupil at Lovewell School on 24 April 1911. the100
A Third Hand with the trawler Willing Boys (Lowestoft), Robert died on 2nd October 1917 at the age of 40. Robert was born at Lowestoft in 1877, a son of Robert and Isabella Hart. In 1881 his family lived at Erskine Place, Factory Lane. In 1891 his parents lived at 26 Cathcart Street and by 1901 they were living at 18 Jacob's Street, and later at 1 Mill Cottages, Mill Road.  In 1891 Robert was 'under detention' at the Formidable Training Ship for Boys (Industrial School) at Portishead. In 1901 Robert was the Third Hand on the trawler Invincible, LT 281.  the100
