A Private with the 4th Battalion, Allen died on 25 June 1943, aged 21.Allen was born at Halesworth on 26 July 1921, a son of Frederick and Ethel Maud Dunnett. His family lived at 9 Quay Street, Halesworth. In 1941 Allen married Ivy May Lambert, of 18 Brickfields Cottages, The Street, Somerleyton. Allen was a gardener when he enlisted in the Suffolk Regiment. A Gunner with 7th Coastal Regiment, Leon died on 5 March 1943, aged 26.Leon was born at Walthamstow on 8 March 1916, a son of Leonard and Dorothy Patin. In 1921 Leon, and his mother, lived with his maternal grandmother, Emily Sheraton, at 67 Holme Road, East Ham. Leon’s mother married Robert Whinney.  Fall of Singapore, FEPOW, the100
A Trooper with C Squadron, Thomas died on 14 April 1945, aged 29.Thomas was born at Stranraer, Wigtownshire, in 1916, a son of James and Janet Graham. In 1941 Thomas married Annie L. Brown, of 19 Florence Road, Pakefield, this was registered in the Lothingland district. Thomas enlisted in the King’s Own Scottish Borderers and subsequently transferred to the Lovat Scouts. His unit landed in Italy in July 1944. Thomas as wounded on 12 April and died of his wounds two days later.   the100
A Signalman with 56 Infantry Brigade, Ernest died on 14 June 1944, aged 19.Ernest was born at Lowestoft on 1 July 1924, a son of John Henry and Millicent Moyse. In 1939 his family lived at Fairfields, London Road, Pakefield, and Ernest was a grocer’s errand boy.   the100

A Lance Corporal with the 7th (Galloway) Battalion, John died on 4 April 1944, aged 22.John was born at Laverhay, Wamphrey, Dumfriesshire in 1921 a son of John and Agnes Murdoch.In 1943 John married Joyce Mary Key Blake, of 36 Nelson Road, Pakefield, this was registered in the Lothingland district. A Guardsman with the 1st Battalion, James died on 26 January 1944, aged 36. James was born at Tyrone, Northern Ireland, in 1908, a son of James and Rosana McGale. In 1937 James was living in London and he married Violet Mary Goddard, their marriage was registered in the Southwark district. Violet was born at Kessingland. Violet remarried in 1944 and for a time lived in Canada before returning to live at Somerleyton.    the100
A Deck Hand with Fishing Vessel S.D.J. (Lowestoft), James died on 11 May 1947, aged 29.James was born at Newark, Peterborough, in 1918, a son of William and Maria Winfield. In 1921 his family lived at New Road, Newark, Peterborough. In 1939 his family lived at Wadenhoe, near Oundle.On 26 December 1940 James married Pearl Elizabeth Curtis at All Saints’ Church, Pakefield. James was a blacksmith based at Christchurch Barracks, Hampshire, and Pearl lived at 14 Nelson Terrace.  the100
A Hospital Sister, Alice died on 4 May 1941, aged 37.Alice was born at Oulton Broad on 20 March 1904, a daughter of Chrles Frederick and Alice Beare. She was baptised at Saint Mark’s Church on 8 May 1904 and her family lived at Victoria Road. By 1921 Alice’s father had died and her family still lived at Victoria Road, but Alice lived at Binstead Farm, Low Road, Mettingham, with her aunt Emma Blundell, and Alice worked as a clerk for J. and J. Edwards at Lowestoft. Later her mother lived at 8 Victoria Road.  the100
A Sapper with 991 Dock Operating Company, Alec died on 17 June 1943, aged 30.Alec was born at Winterton on 11 September 1912, a son of Arthur and Rose Greensides. In 1921 his family lived at 4 Ferry Lane, Southtown, Great Yarmouth.  In 1936 Alec married Pamela Louise Orford, this was registered in the Great Yarmouth district. In 1939 they lived at 4 Ferry Lane, Great Yarmouth, and Alec was a shipyard dock labourer. Later Pamela lived at 2 Brickfields Cottages, Somerleyton.  the100
A Private with the 2nd Battalion, Arthur died between 10 May and 26 June 1940, aged 27. Arthur was born at Pakefield in 1913, a son of Jack and Sarah Florence Reeve. In 1921 his family lived at 2 Wellington Road, Pakefield. By 1939 his widowed mother lived at 22 Edgerton Road.  the100, Dunkirk
