In some countries, a service member's name must be mentioned in dispatches as a condition for receiving certain decorations. A Chief Skipper with H.M. Trawler Myrtle, William died on 14 June 1940, aged 46.William was born at Lowestoft on 25 April 1894, a son of James and Mary Cleveland. He was baptised at Saint John’s Church on 25 May 1894 and his family lived at 7 Wollaston Road. In 1901 his family lived at Laundry Lane. By 1911 his father had died, and his family lived at 4 Strand Street. Later they lived at 3 Spurgeon Street. A Skipper with H.M. Trawler Lock Doon, George died on 25 December 1939 at the age of 31.George was born at Kessingland on 5 September 1908, a son of Alexander John and Jane Elizabeth Thompson. In 1911 his family lived at 3 Lakenham Cottages, Beach Street, Pakefield, and, by 1921 they were living at 10 Lovewell Road and this was still the family home in 1939. George was awarded his Certificate of Competency as a Skipper in 1931. From 29 September 1931 to 27 February 1932, when he was invalided, George served with the Royal Naval Reserve as a Second Hand.   Mentioned in Despatches

A Company Sergeant Major with 12th Field Company, Walter died on 21st of March 1918 at the age of 42. Walter was born at Pakefield in 1876, a son of Latha and Eliza Harriet Rouse. In 1881 his family lived at 2 Beanes Cottages, London Road, Pakefield. BY 1891 they were living at 79 Cambridge Road, Lowestoft, and later they lived at 72 Osborne Street, Lowestoft.Walter married Ellen Mooney at Kilworth, County Cork, on 12 August 1910. A Skipper with H.M. Drifter Cosmos, George died on 14th of February 1918 at the age of 44. Daniel was born at Wrentham, a son of Daniel and Caroline Thacker. When he joined the Royal Naval Reserve George’s date of birth was recorded as 18 November 1872, but his birth was not registered until 1873. In 1881 his family lived at Church Road, Wrentham. By 1894 they were living at Lowestoft. In 1901 the family home was at Carlton Road and in 1911 they lived at Eddystone Villa, Kirkley Run. Mentioned in Despatches
An Acting Skipper Lieutenant with H.M. Motor Mine Sweeper 1012, Harry died on 30th of December 1945 aged 39. Harry was born at Barnby on 12 June 1906, a son of Dick Alfred and Louisa Jane Lee. In 1911 they lived at Back Lane, Barnby, and this was still their address in 1921 when Harry was a dairy man for A. Barwood at Mutford. Cecil Robert Sharman
A Seaman with H.M. Trawler Elise., Cecil died on 22nd of September 1918 at the age of 22. Cecil was born at Mutford on 1 April 1896, a son of Arthur and Alice Sharman. He was baptised at Saint Andrew's Church, Mutford, on 1 May 1898. In 1901 his family lived at Hulver Road, Mutford, and this was still the family address in 1911. The 1911 Census shows William working as a cow boy.  Mentioned in Despatches
An Engineman with H.M. Trawler Joseph Button. Frederick died on 22nd of October 1940 at the age of 38.Frederick was born at Oulton on 20 February 1903, a son of Samuel and Emma Eliza Stebbings. In 1911 his family lived at Oulton Street, Oulton. Later their home was at 8 Meadow Cottages, Oulton, Lowestoft. Frederick enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve on 16 March 1933, and re-enrolled in 1938.  Mentioned in Despatches
A Skipper with Fishing Vessel Encourage (Shoreham), Hector died on 25th of October 1940 aged 54. Hector was born at Liverpool on 4 May 1886, a son of Nicholas and Isabella Wellington. By 1890 his family were living in London and Hector became a pupil at Caledonian School. On 25 May 1891 he joined Flint Street School and his family lived at 113 East Street, Southwark. By 1901 his family were living at Guinness Trust Buildings, Pages Walk, Bermondsey, and Hector was an engineer’s apprentice.  Mentioned in Despatches

Drifter Gleaner of the Sea, Francis died on 26th of October 1916 at the age of 22. Francis was born at Carlton Colville on 9th November 1893, a son of William and Jessie Beamish of 186 The Avenue Lowestoft Suffolk.Francis, like his father, was a fisherman. Aubrey died on 31st of October 1914 at the age of 26.Aubrey was born at Hampstead, Middlesex, on 8 August 1886, a son of Annie Amy Austin and step-son of Charles William Bradfield. He was baptised at Saint Saviour's Church, Hampstead, on 29 August 1886. In 1888 his family lived at 27 Lismore Road, Hampstead, and by 1891 they were living at 32 Fleet Road, Hampstead.
