A Private with the 4th Battalion, James died on 3rd of October 1943 aged 22. James was born at Dovercourt, Essex, on 7 February 1921, a son of James Robert and Winifred Anne Durrant. He was baptised at All Saints’ Church, Dovercourt, on 6 March 1921, and his family lived at 7 Lea Road, Dovercourt. By 1939 his family were living at 10 Laurel Road, Lowestoft.  James was working as a salesman when he joined the Suffolk Regiment and served with 3 Company in the 4th Battalion. A Private with 6th Bn., Harold died on 18th of January 1942 at the age of 23. Harold was born at Lowestoft in 1918 a son of Frederick William and Anna Maria Soanes. His family lived at 66 Albany Cottages, Kirkley. In 1939 his family lived at 88 Kirkley Run. Harold married Rhoda Batty, of Kirkley, in 1940.In late 1939 the 6th Battalion was stationed at Sheringham and in spring 1940 guarded the coast from Sheringham to Overstrand. In August 1940 the Battalion moved to Holt and later in the year they moved to Weybourne, and then Swaffham. Fall of Singapore
William Sterry
A Private with the 10th Battalion, William died on 1st of July 1916 at the age of 19.William was born at Lowestoft in 1897 a son of John William and Esther Susannah Sterry. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church on 26 March 1897 and his family lived at Whapload Road. In 1901 their address was Robert’s Buildings, Whapload Road. By 1911 they were living at 25 The Hemplands, Lowestoft, and William was an errand boy. Battle of Somme 1st day
Robert Allan Gardner
A Private with 4th Bn., Robert died on 14th of February 1942 at the age of 26. Robert was born at Willingham, Suffolk, on 1 August 1916, a son of Robert and Edith Florence Gardner. In 1921 his family lived at Willingham and in 1939 Robert lived with his parents at Grange Cottages, Gisleham.In 1941 Robert married Doris May Gook, at Lowestoft, and their home was at Dell Road, Lowestoft. By 1939 his mother had died and George's father lived at 6 Broad View Villa, Hall Road, Oulton. George married Winifred Iris Weaving, of 66 Victoria Road, at Lowestoft in autumn 1939. Frank Horace Bullen
A Private with the 4th Battalion, Frank died on 6th of February 1944 aged 30. Frank was born at Corton on 31 August 1914, a son of Frank James Bullen and Gertrude Jane Bullen. He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 19 February 1918. At that time his father was in the Army and the family home was at 24 May Road. In 1934 Reginald became a postman-messenger for the Post Office at Lowestoft. In 1939 Reginald married Kathleen Gertrude Pennell at Lowestoft. In 1911 his family lived at 16 Welsh Street, Shoreditch. On 21 July 1919 George enlisted in the Machine Gun Corps, at Stratford, London. Prior to this he worked as a plumber's assistant.
