A Lance Sergeant with the 1st Battalion, Stanley died on 14th of October 1944 aged 25. Stanley was born at Kirkley on 11 September 1919, a son of Thomas William and May Annie Cook. In 1921 his family lived at 192 The Avenue, and this was till their home in 1939 when Stanley was an apprentice printer.Stanley served in north-west Europe with the 1st Battalion Royal Norfolk Regiment.
