Muriel Evelyn  Jean Whitlam
A Civilian, Muriel died on 13th of January 1942 aged 20. Muriel was born at Lowestoft on 4 October 1921, a daughter of William Robert and Alice Maud Whitlam. In 1939 her family lived at 8 Oaklands Terrace, Kessingland, and Muriel was in domestic service. Muriel at Waller’s Restaurant, 90 London Road North, during the Waller Raid. Muriel was buried at Saint Edmund’s Churchyard, Kessingland, on 22 January 1942. A Civilian, Alfred died on 13th of January 1942 aged 46. Alfred was born at Hitcham, Buckinghamshire, on 26 March 1895, a son of Edward and Ann Slater. He was baptised at St Mary’s Church on 5 May 1895. In 1901 his family lived at 4 Bath Cottages, Hitcham, and this was still their home in 1911 when Alfred was an outfitter’s apprentice. By 1921 his family were living at Rotherby, Station Estate, Burnham, Buckinghamshire, and Alfred was an outfitters assistant for J. Hatton & Co. Gentleman’s Outfitters at 3 Queens Street, Maidenhead. 130142 The Waller Raid
A Civilian, Ethel died on 13th of January 1942 at the age of 23. Ethel was born at Great Yarmouth on 6 May 1918, a daughter of Thomas W. ands Maud Kate Moore. In 1921 her family lived at 9 Saint George's Road, Great Yarmouth. By 1939 they were living at 123 Beccles Road, Oulton Broad, and Ethel worked as shop assistant.Ethel died at London Road North. 130142 The Waller Raid
A Civilian, Audrey died on 13th of January 1942 aged 34. Audrey was born at Lowestoft on 15 December 1907, a daughter of Herbert John and Lucy Emma Moyse. She was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Carlton Colville, on 26 July 1908, and her family lived at 4 Gordon Terrace, Oulton Road. By 1911 her family were living at 3 Diamond Terrace, Beccles Road, Oulton Broad, and this was still their home in 1939 when Audrey worked as a kitchen help. Note that Audrey’s family’s address was also known as 75 Beccles Road. 130142 The Waller Raid

A Civilian, Winifred died on 13th of January 1942 at the age of 22. Winifred was born on 19 December 1920, a daughter of James George and Fanny Baker of 4 Gisleham Road, Carlton Colville. In 1939 she worked in domestic service.Died at London Road North.=============14th January 1942, Evercreech. A quiet, tiny place, under a blanket of snow.The Captain sent for me. He gravely told me a telegram from my Father had reported a serious raid on Lowestoft, my home town. He told me “Winnie is missing”. A Civilian, Malvinia died on 13th of January 1942 aged 58. Malvinia was born at Corton on 3 September 1883, a daughter of Frederick and Susan Ward. In 1891 her family lived at High Street Corton. By 1901 Malvinia’s family lived at The Cliff, Corton, but Malvinia lived at 236 London Road, Kirkley, where she was a domestic nurse for the Devereux family. 130142 The Waller Raid
A Civilian, James died on 7th of February 1942 at the age of 56.James was born at Carlton Colville on 1 March 1885, a son of James and Ellen Manning. James was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Carlton Colville, on 12 April 1885. In 1891 his family lived at ‘Cottage near the Chapel’, Beccles Road, Carlton Colville. By 1901 they were living at Coleman’s Cottages, Bridge Road, Carlton Colville, and James was an assistant bridgeman. By 1911 James’ father had died and his family were still living at Coleman’s Cottages and James was a railway bridgeman at Lowestoft Harbour.  010242 raid
A Civilian, Hilda died on 1st of February 1942 aged 35. Hilda was born at Lowestoft on 30 June 1906, a daughter of William Ernest James and Harriet Jane Steele Rose. She was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church on 27 July 1906 and her family lived at 180 Raglan Street. In 1911 her family lived at 61 May Road, and this was still her mother’s address in 1939.   010242 raid
A Civilian, Pamela died on 1st of February 1942 aged 4. Pamela was born at Lowestoft on 23 October 1937, a daughter of Stanley William Bessey and of Hilda Emma Mary Bessey. In 1939 her family lived at 5 Hill Top, Kirkley Run. On 1 February 1942 German aircraft dropped three high explosive bombs. One exploded in the Hill Top area killing Pamela, her mother Hilda, and her brother Peter, who were all at their home, 5 Hill Top.    010242 raid
A Civilian, Peter died on 1st of February 1942 aged 10. Peter was born at Lowestoft on 17 April 1931, a son of Stanley William Bessey and of Hilda Emma Mary Bessey. In 1939 her family lived at 5 Hill Top, Kirkley Run. On 1 February 1942 German aircraft dropped three high explosive bombs. One exploded in the Hill Top area killing Peter, his mother Hilda, and his sister Pamela, who were all at their home, 5 Hill Top.    010242 raid
