Alfred James Osborne

A Stoker with H.M.S. Pembroke, Alfred died on 20th of January 1915 at the age of 19. 

Alfred was born at Lowestoft on 22 September 1895, a son of George and Martha Osborne. In 1901 his family lived at 3 Nobbs Buildings, Whapload Road, Lowestoft, and this was still their address in 1914. Later they lived at 215 Raglan Street, Lowestoft.

Alfred had two years service before he joined the Royal Naval Reserve. 

Alfred joined the Royal Naval Reserve on 31 December 1914, number 7275 A. On 8 January 1915 he was found to be medically unfit to serve as a Seaman, but was willing to re-enrol at a Stoker he re-engaged on 18 January 1915. 

Alfred died at the Royal Naval Hospital, Chatham, from lobar pneumonia.
