George Ernest Moyse

A Private with the 1st Battalion, George died on 11th of April 1945 aged 19.

George was born at Kessingland on 13 November 1925, a son of Bernard William and Martha Elizabeth Moyse. In 1939 his family lived at 1 Woodfield Terrace, Kessingland. George’s father died in 1940 when the tug her was serving on was sunk by enemy action and his mother married William A. Sherwood.

In March – April 1945 the 1st Battalion were in the eastern border areas of The Netherlands and were dealing with numerous enemy stragglers. On 5 April they were engaged by the enemy at Lingen. George was wounded on 9 April and died from his wounds two days later.
