A Deck Hand with H.M. Drifter Gleaner of the Sea, Francis died on 26th of October 1916 at the age of 22. Francis was born at Carlton Colville on 9th November 1893, a son of William and Jessie Beamish of 186 The Avenue Lowestoft Suffolk.Francis, like his father, was a fisherman. He joined the Royal Naval Reserve on 11th January 1915 and served on board the drifter 'Gleaner of the Sea'. Distinguished Service Medal, Gleaner of the Sea, Mentioned in Despatches
William Thomas Baker
A Private with the 2nd Battalion, William died on 12th of October 1916 at the age of 30. William was born at Lowestoft on 23 December 1885, a son of William Thomas and Harriet Mary Ann Baker. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 7 March 1886. In 1891 his family lived at 8 Thurlow Road and this was still their home in 1901 when William was an apprentice printer. Later his parents lived at 10 Thurston Road.  Military Medal
Charles Edward Catchpole
A Second Lieutenant with the 7th Battalion, Charles died on 12th of October 1916 at the age of 21. Charles was born at Kessingland in 1895, a son of George and Elizabeth Catchpole. He was baptised at Saint Edmund’s Church, Kessingland, on 17 May 1896. In 1901 his family lived at Eddystone House, Church Road, Kessingland, and this was Charles’ home for the rest of his life. In 1911 Charles was a junior clerk working for a fish seller. Military Medal
Peter Annis
An Acting Sergeant with 54th Field Company, Peter died on 4th of October 1916 at the age of 32. Peter was born at Lowestoft in 1884, a son of James and Elizabeth Annis. In 1891 his family lived at 1 Well Yard, Saint Peter’s Street, Lowestoft. In 1901 the family lived at 7-8 White Horse Street, Lowestoft, where Peter’s father was the publican, and Peter was an apprentice bricklayer. Later his mother lived at 22 Factory Street, Lowestoft.   Distinguished Conduct Medal
A Private with 1st Bn. Aubrey died on 31st of October 1914 at the age of 26.Aubrey was born at Hampstead, Middlesex, on 8 August 1886, a son of Annie Amy Austin and step-son of Charles William Bradfield. He was baptised at Saint Saviour's Church, Hampstead, on 29 August 1886. In 1888 his family lived at 27 Lismore Road, Hampstead, and by 1891 they were living at 32 Fleet Road, Hampstead. Aubrey attended Fleet Road School, Hampstead.   Mentioned in Despatches, De Ruvigny
A Second Hand with Steam Trawler Lord Haldane (Lowestoft), John died on 7th of November 1940 at the age of 58. John was born at Lowestoft on 27 August 1882, a son of Charles and Charlotte Williams. In 1891 his family lived at 227 Raglan Street. By 1911 John was a herring fisherman living with his aunt, Eliza Harris, at 26 Whapload Road. On 30 September 1911 John married Hilda May Williams at Saint Andrew’s Church, Plaistow, Essex. In 1915 they lived at Shakespeare Avenue, Milford Haven.  Mentioned in Despatches
A Deck Hand with H.M.S. Ceto, Arthur died on 16th of November 1918 aged 25. Arthur was born at Pakefield on 23 April 1893, a son of Arthur and Alice Barber. In 1901 his family lived at Main Road, Carlton Colville. By 1911 they were living at Bridge Road, Oulton Broad, and Arthur was a fisherman. On 28 November 1914 Arthur married Eva Violet Baldry at Saint Peter’s Church, Carlton Colville. Arthur was a fisherman and they both lived at Oulton Broad.   Mentioned in Despatches

A Seaman with H.M. Trawler Kennymore. James died on 25th of November 1940 at the age of 29. James was born at Lowestoft, a son of Charles Edward Turner Barnard and Lottie Maud Barnard. He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 16 May 1911, and his family lived at 37 Kent Road. The baptised register gives his date of birth as 27 April, and his middle name as Ernest. However, Royal Navy war graves records give his date of birth as 29 April and his middle name as Edward. Mentioned in Despatches
A Lance Corporal with the 7th Battalion, Charles died on 24th of November 1917 at the age of 33. Charles was born at Kirkley on 24 October 1884, a son of Charles and Ellen Mary Branwhite. He was baptised at Saint John’s Church, Lowestoft, on 16 January 1885 and his family lived qt 13 Kirkley Villas. In 1891 his family lived at 3 Gordon Road. Charles’ mother died at Lowestoft in 1892 and his father moved to Ipswich, where he died in 1897. Charles was educated at the Grammar School, Stamford, Lincolnshire. Military Medal
A Skipper with H.M. Trawler Gabir, Frederick died on 24th of May 1918 at the age of 34. Frederick was born at Carlton Colville on 19 March 1884, a son of Charles and Alice Sayer. His family has not been traced in the 1891 Census, but in 1901 they were living at 7 Victoria Road, Carlton Colville, and Frederick, like his father, was a wherryman.  Distinguished Service Medal
