He was baptised at Saint James with Pockthorpe Church, Norwich, on 25 March 1897 and his family lived at 20 Cavalry Street, Norwich. In 1901 his family lived at 173 Sprowston Road, Norwich. By 1911 they were living at 3 Eden Street, Lowestoft, and Charles was an apprentice upholsterer. Later his parents lived at Eden Villa, 2 Eden Street, Lowestoft.
Henry Victor Forwood
A Deck Hand with Steam Trawler Lindsey (Boston), Henry died on 10th of September 1920 at the age of 19.
Henry was born at Lowestoft in late 1901. He was a son of William Charles and Harriet Mary Garnham. In 1911 his family lived at 5 Eastern Square, Whapload Road. What exactly happened to Henry’s biological father is not known, but in 1916 his mother married Henry Horton Forwood and it seems that, thereafter, Henry used the surname Forwood. His family lived at 33 Police Station Road.
Esme Ellen Fowler
A Wren with H.M.S. Europa, Esme died on 18th of February 1940 at the age of 19.
Esme was born at Marlborough, Wiltshire, on 8 Jun 1920, a daughter of Samuel and Sarah Fowler. She was baptised at the Methodist Church, Marlborough, on 11 July 1920, and her family lived at Bristol House, High Street, Marlborough.
In 1939 her family lived at 68 High Street and Esme worked as a short-hand typist. Later her parents lived at 128 Bridge Road, Oulton Broad.
Sidney Fox
A Private with the 7th Battalion, Sidney died on 28th of February 1916 at the age of 19.
Sidney was born at Norwich in 1896, a son of Benjamin and Ruth Edith Fox. In 1901 his family lived at 22 Geoffrey Road, Old Lakenham, Norwich. By 1911 they were living at 28 Beaconsfield Road, Lowestoft, and Sidney was a telegraph messenger.
Sidney volunteered and enlisted in the Army at Lowestoft. He joined the Suffolk Regiment, service number 18740, and was posted to the 7th Battalion, arriving in France on 4 October 1915.

His given names were Francis Alfred, but he was often known as Frank and this is the name he used when he joined the Army. He was baptised at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft, on 5 April 1896. Throughout Frank's life his family lived at 51 Stanley Street, Lowestoft.
Laurence William Greengrass

Laurence was born at Lowestoft in 1899, a son of Robert and Mary Greengrass. In 1901 his family lived at Whites Cottages, Victoria Road, Carlton Colville. By 1911 Laurence’s father had died and he lived with his mother at Victoria Road, Oulton Broad.
Laurence began working for the Great Eastern Railway Company as an engine cleaner, at Lowestoft, in 1916.

Alexander was born at Lowestoft in 1895, a son of William and Jane Grey. He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 30 October 1895. Throughout his life Alexander's family lived at 70 Tennyson Road, Lowestoft.
Albert William Haddingham

Albert was born at Blundeston in 1898, a son of William James and Edith Isabel Haddingham. In 1901 his family lived at The Street, Blundeston, and they still lived at The Street in 1911.
Albert enlisted in the Army at Lowestoft. He joined the Royal Garrison Artillery, service number 147081, and was posted to France to serve with 177 Siege Battery.

William was born at Lowestoft in 1897, a son of George and Elizabeth Hales. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church 26 June 1898, and his family lived at 20 Haward Street. In 1901 his family lived at 4 Cumberland Square, and by 1911 at 18 Mariners St. Lowestoft.

George was born at Oulton in 1899, a son of George and Jane Harbord. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church on 16 August 1899 and his family lived at Hope Cottage, Hall Lane. George joined the Great Eastern Railway in December 1913 and in 1917 he was a stoker at Lowestoft (Civil Engineering Department) and he joined the National Union of Railwaymen on 14 September 1917.

Eric was born at Lowestoft on 2 May 1922, a son of William and Hilda Maud Harper. In 1939 his family lived at 56 Kent Road and Eric was a journalist.
Eric moved to Tottenham, London. He joined the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve between September 1939 and June 1940. By January 1941 he was an Observer serving with 207 Squadron.

From 27 February 1899 Frank was a pupil at Kirkley School and his family lived at Horn Hill. In 1901 Frank was staying with his grandmother, Emma Bird, at 8 Mill Road, Horn Hill. In 1911 his family lived at 31 Horn Hill and Frank was a milkman.
Albert Harry Green Haylock
A Deck Hand, Albert died on 9th February 1916 at the age of 19.
Albert was born at Pakefield on 20 January 1897, a son of Harry Green and Emily Haylock. He was baptised at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft, on 3 April 1898.
In 1901 his family lived at 21 Pakefield Street, and, by 1911, they were living at 4 Lakenham Cottages, Beach Street, Pakefield.
Albert joined the Royal Naval Reserve on 11 January 1915 and joined the crew of the Drifter Persistive.

Charles was born at Lowestoft on 19 April 1896, a son of John Francis and Florence May James. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 10 May 1896, and his family lived at 9 White Horse Street, Lowestoft. (1901) By 1911 Charles’ mother had died and his father lived at 12 White Horse Street, Lowestoft.
Gordon Hedley Jarvis
A Private with the 1st Battalion, Gordon died on 28th of June 1944 aged 19.
Gordon was born at Lowestoft on 27 November 1924, a son of Frederick and Emma Florence Jarvis. In 1939 his family lived at 2 Walmer Road and Gordon was a carpenter’s apprentice.
Gordon joined the Suffolk Regiment and served with the 1st Battalion in France. His battalion landed at Sword Beach on D-Day and went on to attack, and take, German positions at Colleville-sur-Orne before moving to a position near the Periers Ridge.
Brian Henry Bentley Jenkins
A Private with 1/12th (County of London) Battalion London Regiment. Brian died on 7th of October 1916 at the age of 19.
Brian was born at Lowestoft on 17 February 1897, a son of Henry and Mary Hadfield Jenkins. Throughout Brian’s life his family lived at 2 Pier Terrace, Lowestoft.
Brian attended Roman Hill School and, from 15 September 1909 was a pupil at Lowestoft School of Science.
Russell John Keable
A Seaman with H.M. Trawler Cayton Wyke. Russell died on 8th of July 1940 at the age of 19.
Russell was born at Lowestoft on 11 July 1921, a son of Charles Nathanial and Eva May Keable. In 1939 his family lived at 107 Notley Road, Lowestoft, and Russell worked as a fisherman.
In May 1940 the Cayton Wyke was involved in the Dunkirk evacuations and is credited with rescuing over 600 men. On 8 July 1940 the Cayton Wyke was sunk by a German motor torpedo boat off Goodwin Sands. All 18 of the crew, including Russell, were killed.
James Everett Kemp

James was born at Heckingham, Norfolk, on 19 May 1899, a son of Charles and Elizabeth Kemp. In 1901 his family lived at The Street, Rushmere. James was a pupil at Gisleham School from 1903 to 1908 when he joined Mutford School. In 1911 his family lived at Gisleham Road, Rushmere. By 1919 his family were living at 16 Fir Lane, Lowestoft, and later they lived at Council Cottages, Flixton.
Robert William Kitson

Robert was born at Somerleyton on 27 November 1897, a son of Hebert and Frances Maria Kitson. He was baptised at Saint Mary's Church, Somerleyton, on 2 October 1898.
In 1901 his family lived at The Street, Somerleyton, and by 1911 were living at Staith Cottages, Somerleyton.

Ambrose was born at Blundeston in 1897, a son of Benjamin and Clara Knight. In 1901 his family lived at The Street, Blundeston, Lowestoft. By 1911 Ambrose's father had died and his family still lived at The Street, Blundeston, and Ambrose worked as a house boy-domestic.
Ambrose enlisted in the Army at Lowestoft. He served with the Suffolk Regiment, initially with the 6th (Cyclist) Battalion, number 1861, and later he was posted to France and joined the 7th Battalion, service number 43045.
Donald Victor Langlands
An Able Seaman with H.M.S. Loyal. Donald died on 17th of October 1914 at the age of 19.
Donald was born at Norwich on 21 January 1895, a son of John and Alexandra Langlands. In 1901 his family were living at Layham, Suffolk. By 1911 his father had died and his mother lived at Cliftonville House, Alexandra Road, Pakefield, and later she lived at 500 London Road, Lowestoft.
Donald was working as a gardener's assistant when he joined the Royal Navy, as a Boy 2nd Class, on 7 March 1911.
Duncan Goff Money
A Second Lieutenant with 4th Squadron, Duncan died on 16th of February 1918 at the age of 19.
Duncan was born at Lowestoft in 1898, a son of Frank and Jessie Money. He was baptised at Christchurch, Lowestoft, on 2 September 1898, and his family lived at 19 Windsor Road. In 1901 his family lived at 198 London Road and, by 1911, at 113 London Road South. Later his parents lived at Redan Road, Ipswich.
Stanley Henry John Moore

Stanley was born at Lowestoft on 19 August 1898, a son of Henry George and Jane Moore. He was baptised at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft, on 14 October 1898, and his family lived at 2 Ivy Terrace, Colville Road. From 10 July 1898 Stanley attended Kirkley School. In 1901 they lived at 7 Ivory Terrace, Colville Road, and later at 6 College Road, Kirkley.

In 1901 his family lived at High Street, Laxfield. By 1911 they were living at 1 Love Road, Lowestoft, and Robert was a stockbroker’s clerk. Later his family lived at 79 Sussex Road, Lowestoft, and afterwards at 27 Culver Road, Wokingham Road, Reading Berkshire.

A Signalman with 56 Infantry Brigade, Ernest died on 14 June 1944, aged 19.
Ernest was born at Lowestoft on 1 July 1924, a son of John Henry and Millicent Moyse. In 1939 his family lived at Fairfields, London Road, Pakefield, and Ernest was a grocer’s errand boy.
George Ernest Moyse
A Private with the 1st Battalion, George died on 11th of April 1945 aged 19.
George was born at Kessingland on 13 November 1925, a son of Bernard William and Martha Elizabeth Moyse. In 1939 his family lived at 1 Woodfield Terrace, Kessingland. George’s father died in 1940 when the tug her was serving on was sunk by enemy action and his mother married William A. Sherwood.
Ivan Herbert Mummery
A Third Mate with S.S. Baku Standard (Swansea), Ivan died on 11th of February 1918 at the age of 19.
Ivan was born at Lowestoft on 7 July 1898 a son of John Herbert and Mahala Florence Mummery. In 1901 his family lived at 6 Battery Green Road. Ivan attended Morton Road School before becoming a pupil at Lowestoft School of Science on 14 September 1910. By 1910 his family were living at 25 Kirkley Park Road. Ivan, and all of his brothers and sisters, was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Kirkley, on 11 November 1911.
Arthur Philip Newrick
A Deck Hand with Fishing Vessel Naniwa (Cardiff), Arthur died on 16th of February 1941 aged 19.
Arthur was born at Henstead, Suffolk, on 7 July 1921, a son of Benjamin Philip and Bessie Mabel Newrick. He was baptised at Saint John’s Church, Lowestoft, on 12 August 1921 and his family lived at 4 Freemantle Road. By 1939 his family home was at 130 Kimberley Road. In 1941 Arthur lodged at 30 Margaret Street, Cardiff.
On 16 February 1941 the Naniwa was sunk by enemy aircraft and all five crew, including Arthur, were lost.
Alfred James Osborne
A Stoker with H.M.S. Pembroke, Alfred died on 20th of January 1915 at the age of 19.
Alfred was born at Lowestoft on 22 September 1895, a son of George and Martha Osborne. In 1901 his family lived at 3 Nobbs Buildings, Whapload Road, Lowestoft, and this was still their address in 1914. Later they lived at 215 Raglan Street, Lowestoft.
Alfred had two years service before he joined the Royal Naval Reserve.
Ernest Arthur Patterson

Ernest was born at Oulton Broad in 1896, a son of George and Emma Patterson. In 1901 his family lived at Park Estate, Oulton, Lowestoft. In 1911 they lived at Edith Cottage, Commodore Road, Oulton Broad, and Ernest was a baker’s errand boy.
Ernest volunteered and enlisted in the Army at Lowestoft. He joined the Suffolk Regiment and was posted to the 8th Battalion. He arrived in France with the Battalion on 25 July 1915. He served with A Company.
