William James Dixon Oldman

A Second Hand with H.M. Yacht Aelda, William died on 6th of November 1943 at the age of 42. William was born at Lowestoft on 20 February 1901, a son of William James Dixon and Maud Marion Oldman. William was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 13 March 1901, and his family lived at 58 Wollaston Road. By 1911 his family lived at 25 Coronation Terrace, Fir Lane. Later his parents lived at 12 Harrison Road, Oulton Broad. CWGC and 1939 Register

George William Reeve

A Lance Sergeant with 25th Bomb Disposal Company, George died on 22nd of September 1944 aged 29. George was born at Lowestoft on 9 January 1915, a son of John Henry and Emily Reeve. In 1921 his family lived at 17 Coronation Terrace, Fir Lane. CWGC and 1939 Register

William Hereward Wake

A Sergeant with 217 Squadron, William died on 30th of September 1940 aged 21.William was born at Wandsworth, London, on 19 August 1919, a son of William and Helen Alice Wake. He was baptised at Harrow Weald on 25 January 1920 and his family lived at The Cottage, Harrow Weald. In 1921 his family lived at ‘Simplicity’, Old Fort Road, Shoreham-by-Sea. William’s father died and in 1927 his mother married Selwyn Wollaston Humphrey of Oulton Broad Lowestoft. CWGC and 1939 Register

Ernest John Seeley

An Able Seaman with H.M.S. Royal Oak, Ernest died on 14th of October 1939 aged 21. Ernest was born at Penzance, Cornwall, in 1918, a son of Ernest John and Elizabeth Seeley. In 1921 his family lived at 9 Hall Lane, Lowestoft. Later his family lived at 24 Oulton Street. Ernest was a short-service rating in the Royal Navy, intending to serve seven years with the navy and then five with the reserve, when the Second World War began. CWGC and 1939 Register

Ivan Frederick William Bennett

An Able Seaman with H.M.S. Arethusa, Ivan died on 18th of November 1942 aged 21. Ivan was born at Lowestoft on 16 June 1921, a son of Frederick James and Esther Maria Bennett. In 1939 Ivan’s family lived at 9 Marlborough Road.Ivan was engaged to be married to Miss Hilda Andrews of 41 Penlee Street, Penzanze. CWGC and 1939 Register

Bernard Mcque Humble

An Engineman with H.M. Trawler Wyoming. Bernard died on 20th of May 1944 at the age of 28.Bernard was born at Sunderland on 9 March 1916, a son of Harold Humble and of Elizabeth Humble (nee McQue). In 1921 his family lived at 2 Long Bank, Sunderland. From the mid-1930s Bernard was a seaman in the merchant navy.Bernard married Marjorie Elsie Kathleen Ellis at Lowestoft in late 1939. Her address was 6 Margaret Cottages, Moyes Road, Oulton Broad, and Marjorie worked as a sausage maker. CWGC and 1939 Register

Leslie John Nicholls

A Leading Aircraftman with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, Leslie died on 23rd of March 1944 aged 32. Leslie was born at Lowestoft on 29 December 1911, a son of Alfred and Agnes Nicholls of Cyprus Cottages, Camps Heath.In 1938 Leslie married Lilian Mercy Kent. In 1939 they lived at 44 Hamilton Road, Felixstowe, and Leslie was a civilian high-frequency direction finding wireless operator working for the Royal Air Force at Felixstowe. CWGC and 1939 Register

Henry Davis

A Chief Stoker with H.M.S. Shrapnel, Henry died on 18th of March 1944 at the age of 52. Henry was born at Lowestoft on 14 April 1892, a son of George and Jane Davis. He was baptised at Saint John’s Church, Lowestoft, on 10 June 1892, and his family lived at 3 Selby Street, Lowestoft. Henry attended Saint John’s Infants School before, on 5 February 1900, becoming a pupil at Saint John’s School. In 1900 his family lived at 3 Selby Street. By 1911 they were living at 11 Clemence Street, Lowestoft. CWGC and 1939 Register

Herbert Henry Pratt

An Ordinary Seaman with H.M.S. Acasta, Herbert died on 8th of June 1940 at the age of 20. Herbert was born at Oulton Broad on 17 November 1919, a son of Alfred George and Edith Mary Pratt. In 1939 his family lived at 4 Gilpin Terrace, Gilpin Road, Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, and Herbert worked as a boat builder. CWGC and 1939 Register

Edward James Crowe

A Sergeant with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, Edward died on 25th of July 1943 aged 24. Edward was born at Bradwell on 12 July 1919, a son of Andrew Howes and Gertrude Eliza Crowe. In 1921 his family lived at Bright Road, Bradwell. By 1939 they were living at 179 Gorleston Road and Edward was a body maker’s apprentice. In 1940 Edward married Ethel Maud Davis, this was registered in the Lothingland district. Ethel lived at 1 Hellena House, Clarkson Road, Oulton Broad. CWGC and 1939 Register, Bomber Command
