Edward William Osborn

A Private with the 7th Battalion, Edward died on 5th of April 1918 at the age of 25. 

Edward was born at Blundeston in 1892, a son of James and Ellen Jane Osborn. In 1901 his family lived at The Street, Blundeston. By 1911 they were living at Ellen Cottages, Blundeston, and Edward was a fisherman.

Edward volunteered and enlisted in the Army at Great Yarmouth. When he enlisted he gave his first name as William. He joined the Norfolk Regiment, service number 12151. He was posted to the 7th Battalion and arrived in France with his battalion on France 30 May 1915. 

Edward was wounded but there is no official record of where, when, or how this happened. We do know that in early April 1918 the 7th Battalion were in the Henencourt – Millencourt area. Edward was taken to 3rd Canadian Stationary Hospital, Doullens, where he died of wounds on 5 April.
