Archibald Bruton
A Private with the 7th Battalion, Archibald died on 1st of March 1916 at the age of 20.  the100
A Corporal with the 5th Battalion, Thomas died on 26th of June 1918 at the age of 29. Thomas was born at Langholm, Dumfriesshire, in 1889, a son of Thomas and Jane Blacklock. In 1891 his family lived at 3A Eskdaill Street, Langholm, and in 1901 at Skipperscleuch Cottage, Langholm.  Thomas enlisted in the Army at Glasgow. He joined the Lovats Scouts, service number 3137. He served with either the 2/1st or 2/2nd Lovat Scouts and in November 1916 these were merged to form the 1st (Lovats Scouts) Cyclist Regiment based at Lowestoft. the100
A Sergeant with the 9th Battalion, Robert died on 14th of October 1918 aged 33.  the100, Russian Order of Saint George
A Driver with C Battery 295 Brigade, Edwin died on 24th of April 1918 at the age of 26. Edwin was born at Lowestoft in 1892, a son of Edith Elizabeth (Bessie) Monica Balls. In 1901 Edwin, and his mother, lodged at 31 Jacob's Street, Lowestoft. By 1909 Edwin's mother was living at The Union Workhouse, Oulton Broad. the100
A Private  with 1st Bn., Frank died on 4th of September 1916 at the age of 21. Frank was born at Lowestoft in 1894, a son of Frederick and Harriet Sarah Baxter. He was baptised at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft, on 6 January 1895 and his family lived at 41 Lawson Road. By 1901 they were living at 19 Cleveland Road, and this was still their home in 1911 when Frank worked as a stonemason's apprentice. Later his parents lived at Burleigh, Kirkley Cliff Road, Lowestoft.  the100
Alfred Paget Bacon
A Private with the 9th Battalion, Alfred died on 13th of September 1916 at the age of 21. Alfred was born at Walthamstow in 1895, a son of Jasper and Edith Mary Bacon. He was baptised at Saint Michael and All Angels Church, Walthamstow, on 18 September 1895. By 1901 Alfred’s father had died and his mother had married William Sarbutt and the family lived at 37 Tyrolean Square, Great Yarmouth. By 1911 they were living at 4 Fleggs Cottages, Moyse Road, Oulton, and Alfred was an assistant to a baker and confectioner.  the100
An Engineman with H.M. Trawler Kirkland, Herbert died on 20th of August 1917 at the age of 27. Herbert was born at Lowestoft on 31 October 1888, a son of George William and Sarah Stevenson. In 1891 his family lived at Maida Cottage, Burton Street, and in 1901 at 4 Rotterdam Road. By 1911 the family had moved to 3 Primrose Road, Thorpe Hamlet, Norwich, and Herbert worked as a general labourer. Also living at 3 Primrose Road was Harriet Sexton who was the house keeper: Harriet was the mother of Dora Sexton.  the100
A Deck Hand with H.M. Drifter Michaelmas Daisy, William died on 26th of November 1916 at the age of 32. William was born at Lowestoft on 22 February 1884, a son of George and Harriet Knights. He was baptised at Christchurch, Lowestoft, on 5 March 1884, and his family lived at Eastern Square. In 1891 his family lived at 6 Pakefield Street, and by 1901 at 2 Pakefield Street. In 1901 William was working as a fisherman.  the100
A Deck Hand with H.M. Trawler George Borthwick, Joseph died on 24th of December 1918 aged 25. Joseph was born at Pakefield on 7 April 1895, a son of Thomas George and Caroline Mary Ann Gosling. In 1901 Joseph, and his parents, were resident at the Union Workhouse, Oulton. His mother died in 1905 and his father in 1908. On 26 October 1908 he became a pupil at Saint Margaret’s School and at the time he lived with his brother Henry at 20 Saint Margaret’s Road.  the100
A Deck Hand with H.M.S. Lavatera. Frederick died on 9th of December 1918 at the age of 25. Frederick was born at Walpole, Suffolk, on 20 April 1893, a son of Henry and Ann Griffiths. In 1901 his family lived at The Street, Walpole. By 1911 Frederick was living at Valley Farm, Walpole, and working as a farm labourer, but later he became a fisherman based at Lowestoft.   the100
