A Seaman with H.M. Trawler Myrtle, George died on 14 June 1940, aged 22.
George was born at Lowestoft on 13 February 1918, a son of Joseph and Annie Elizabeth Winney. George was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church on 14 March 1918 and his family lived at 19 Rant Score, and this was still their address in 1921. By 1939 George was living with his parents at 114 Whapload Road and he was a trawler fisherman.

Frederick William Olley Moxey
A Steward with H.M. Trawler Orpheus. Frederick died on 20th of April 1942 at the age of 21.
Frederick was born at Lowestoft on 24 May 1920 a son of Fredrick William Edward and Amelia Moxey. He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 10 June 1920, and his family lived at 69 Arnold Street. By 1921 they were living at 4 Selby Street.
Frederick married Violet May Stone at Lowestoft in 1941, later she lived at Leigh, Lancashire.
Frederick died at Princess Royal E.M.S. Hospital, Swansea, from peritonitis following an operation for appendicitis.

Herbert Lewis Eade
A Seaman Cook with H.M. Trawler Pelton. Herbert died on 23rd of December 1940 at the age of 20.
Herbert was bon at Lowestoft on 15 March 1920 a son of Lewis and Valerie Gertrude Eade. He was baptised at Saint John's Church on 16 April 1920, and his family lived at 102 Pakefield Street.
Herbert was serving on the Pelton when it was torpedoed and sunk by a German motor torpedo boat, off Great Yarmouth, with the loss of all twenty members of crew.

Ernest George Shillings
A Seaman Steward with H.M. Trawler Rinovia. Ernest died on 2nd of November 1940 at the age of 23.
Ernest was born on 21 May 1917, a son of John William Mayhew and Eva Elizabeth Shillings. In 1939 his family lived at 1 Norfolk Street, Lowestoft, and Ernest worked as a general labourer. Later his parents lived at 30 Alma Road, Lowestoft.
Ernest served with the Royal Artillery from 1935 to 1938.

Leslie Frederick Goldspink
An Engineman with H.M.Trawler Sisapon. Leslie died on 12th of June 1940 at the age of 33.
Leslie was born at Kirkley on 24 July 1906, a son of Harold and Clara Goldspink. He was baptised at Saint Peter's Church, Kirkley, on 19 October 1906 and his family lived at 12 Lorne Road. By 1911 his family lived at 50 Acton Road, Kirkley. In 1921 his family lived at 16 Blackheath Road and Leslie was an apprentice barber working for Watkins and Lockwood at 261 London Road.

A Stoker with H.M. Trawler Sisapon. Joseph died on 12th of June 1940 at the age of 38.
Joseph was born at Lowestoft on 9 January 1902, a son of Joseph Henry and Susannah Margaret Martin. He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 31 January 1902. His family lived at 29 Jacob's Street, Lowestoft, and later at 30 Jacob's Street.
In 1919 Joseph married Hilda May Neave at Lowestoft.
In 1939 Joseph and Hilda lived at 23 Cathcart Street, Lowestoft, and Joseph worked as a car battery operative at an electrical engineering works.

John Henry Bidle
A Seaman Steward with H.M. Trawler St. Achilleus. John died on 1st of June 1940 at the age of 37.
John was born at Lowestoft on 18 October 1903, a son of John (Jack) William and Hannah Tyrrell Bidle. In 1911 his family lived at 14 Seago Street, Lowestoft. John attended Saint Andrew's School before, from 14 January 1913, becoming a pupil at Saint John's School until leaving school on 18 December 1914 'to go to work.'

Ronald was born at Lowestoft on 19 October 1911, a son of William Alfred and Rose Elizabeth Lark. He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church on 10 November 1911. His family lived at 31 Cambridge Road, Lowestoft. In 1939 his family lived at 60 Queens Road and Ronald worked as a wharf labourer.
Ronald married Edith Kathleen Buck at Norwich in 1940.

Edward Arthur Bessey
A Second Hand with H.M. Trawler Tilbury Ness. Edward died on 1st of November 1940 at the age of 35.
Edward was born at Lowestoft on 11 March 1906 a son of Robert George and Florence Esther Bessey of Lowestoft Suffolk. In 1911 his family lived at Bishop's Buildings, Mariner's Street, Lowestoft, and by 1921 his family lived at rear of number 7 Park Road, Lowestoft. At that time Edward worked as a drift-net fisherman for A. J. Turner of Lowestoft.
Edward's home was at Gooderhams Cottages, Whapload Road, Lowestoft.

William Henry Rouse
A Leading Steward with H.M. Trawler Ullswater. William died on 19th of November 1942 at the age of 29.
William was born at Carlton Colville on 1 August 1913, a son of William Arthur and Charlotte (Lottie) Eliza Rouse. He was baptised at Saint Peter's Church, Carlton Colville, on 21 December 1913. His family lived at Carlton Street, Carlton Colville and by 1921 they had moved to 19 Sycamore Avenue, Oulton Broad.
In 1932 William married Christina Elizabeth Beckett and by 1939 they were living at 51 Kimberley Road and William worked as a builder's labourer.

George was born at Lowestoft on 25 July 1913, a son of George and Lottie Bennett. In 1921 his family lived at 20 Cambridge Road, Lowestoft. George's father died in 1921. Later his mother lived at Rear 69 Crown Street, Lowestoft.

Edmund was born at Lowestoft on 24 June 1912, a son of Arthur and Ethel Sharpe. Note: the 1921 Census states that he was born at Penzance. In 1921 his family lived at 4 Avondale Road, Lowestoft, and later at 32 Minden Road, Lowestoft.
Edmund married Alice Maud Cook at Lowestoft in 1932. By 1939 their home was at 46 Poplar Road, Carlton Colville.

William was born at Lowestoft on 20 February 1901, a son of William James Dixon and Maud Marion Oldman. William was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Lowestoft, on 13 March 1901, and his family lived at 58 Wollaston Road. By 1911 his family lived at 25 Coronation Terrace, Fir Lane. Later his parents lived at 12 Harrison Road, Oulton Broad.

Ernest was born at Wrentham on 2 April 1904, a son of Walter and Ethel Elizabeth Love. In 1918 his family were living at Mill Cottages, Ellingham. By 1921 they had moved to 6 Catherine Terrace, London Road, Pakefield, and Ernest was a fisherman. In 1939 his family lived at 12 Beaconsfield Road, Lowestoft, and Ernest worked as a fisherman.
Ernest Edward Reeman
A Seaman with H.M. Yacht Rosabelle. Ernest died on 11th of December 1941 at the age of 20.
Ernest was born at Lowestoft on 5 August 1921, a son of Ernest Edward and Maud Eliza Reeman. By 1939 his family were living at 15 Love Road, Lowestoft, and Ernest worked as a fisherman.
The Rosabelle was a patrol yacht. On 11 December 1941, in the Straits of Gibraltar, H. M. S. Lady Shirley was sunk by submarine U-374. H. M. S. Rosabelle attempted to locate the submarine but was also torpedoed and sank. Twenty-nine crew, including Ernest, were killed, and twelve rescued.
H.M.S. Cocker.
Hedley Owen Balls
A Leading Steward with H.M.S. Cocker. Hedley died on 4th of June 1942 at the age of 21.
Hedley was born at Lowestoft on 1 April 1921, a son of Charles Albert and Elizabeth May Balls. He was baptised at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft, on 22 April 1921 and his family lived at 39 Kimberley Road. By 1939 his family were living at 10 Minden Road and Headley worked as a shop assistant (provisions).
During World War Two Headley served on board H.M.S. Cocker. His ship was torpedoed and sunk, east of Tobruk, by a German motor-torpedo boat.
H.M.S. Coventry City.
John Henry Baker
A Seaman with H.M.S. Coventry City. John died on 29th of January 1945 at the age of 23.
John was born at Lowestoft on 14 June 1921, a son of John Herbert and Ellen Gertrude Baker. He was baptised at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft, on 1 July 1921 and his family lived at 7 Union Place and this was still their address in 1939.
From late 1942 until the end of the war the anti-submarine trawler Coventry City was based in South Africa. On 29 January 1945 John was found drowned in the harbour at Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

Captain Edward Hammond
A Leading Seaman with H.M.S. Europa. Captain died on 22nd of March 1943 at the age of 25.
Captain was born at Wenhaston in 1917, a son of Captain George Hammond and Florence Hammond. In 1921 his family lived at The Smear, Reydon, Suffolk.
Captain married Joan Sybil Keeler at Lowestoft in 1937. In 1939 they lived at 28 Windsor Road and Captain worked as a general labourer.
Captain died at the Royal Naval Hospital Chatham. He had been suffering from cancer and pneumonia.

Victor Frederick Snowling
A Petty Officer Steward with H.M.S. Fratton., Victor died on 18th of August 1944 at the age of 24.
Victor was born at Lowestoft on 30 January 1920, a son of Ernest Victor and Rose Lilian Snowling. He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church on 22 February 1920 and his family lived at 51 Sussex Road. By 1939 they were living at 32 Kent Road, Lowestoft, and Victor worked as a commercial vehicle builder.

An Engineman with H.M.S. Gulf Stream. John died on 16th of July 1942 at the age of 33.
John was born at Gorleston on 22 July 1908, a son of Rowland George and Gertrude Rachael Youngs. In 1911 his family lived at 215 Lowestoft Road, Gorleston.
On 12 June 1933 John married Muriel Evelyn Bennett at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft. John was living at 66 High Street, Southwold, and working as an ironmonger, and Muriel was living at 79 London Road South.

Walter was born at Lowestoft on 30 October 1911, a son of Reuben Knowles Perring and Ethel Maud Perring. In 1914 his family lived at 42 Haward Street, Lowestoft, and by 1921 at 62 Stanford Street. Walter's father died in 1921 and during the 1920s his mother moved to 23 Minden Road, and this was still her home in 1939.

Frank was born at Lowestoft on 26 May 1916, a son of Alfred Arthur and Elizabeth Ann Browne.
In 1937 Frank married Florence Alice Maltby at Lowestoft. By 1939 they were living at 9 Sparham's Buildings, Saint Peter's Street.
Frank was at Dover, Kent, when he died, suddenly, from heart failure.

Stanley Laurence Shreeve

Stanley was born at Lowestoft on 23 August 1914, a son of Alfred Laurence and Florence Elizabeth Shreeve. He was baptised at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft, on 11 September 1914 and hos family lived at 35 Haward Street. By 1921 his family lived at 82 Stanford Street. By 1939 they were living at 153 Clapham Road, Lowestoft, and Stanley worked as a trawl and drift fisherman.
Stanley married Rose Doris Pickess in late 1939 and they lived at 175 Whapload Road, Lowestoft.
