The Lowestoft registered Persistive (LT 42) was built by S. Richards & Sons in 1908 and had a gross registered tonnage of 82. The Persistive was hired for use by the Admiralty in January 1915, number 1003, and was used as a net vessel off Dover. The Persistive’s role was to tend the anti-submarine nets that were part of the defences in the Dover straight. On 9 February 1916 the Persistive was blown up by a mine.
