A civilian working at the C.W.S. Factory, William died at the Lowestoft and Suffolk Hospital on 29th of November 1940 aged 26.William was born at Lowestoft on 10 September 1914, a son of William Alfred and Rosie May Nunn. He was baptised at Saint John’s Church on 2 October 1914 and his family lived at 20 Kimberley Road. His father served in the Royal Naval Reserve in World War One and died when his ship, the Drifter Gleaner of the Sea, was lost in 1916. In 1921 William’s family lived at 31 Cleveland Road. 291140 raid
Bertie Edward Thacker
A Civilian, Bertie died on 29th of September 1940 aged 56. Bertie was born at Kessingland on 8 February 1884, a son of Samuel and Mary Ann Thacker. In 1891 his family lived at Kessingland. Bertie married Clarinda Eliza Blowers at Saint Edmund’s Church, Kessingland, on 2 May 1906. Bertie was a fisherman and they both lived at Kessingland. In 1911 they lived at Verbena Place, London Road, Kessingland, and Bertie was a fisherman. This was still their home in 1918.   290940 raid
A Civilian, Isaac died on 29th of September 1940 at the age of 62.Isaac was born at Barnby on 6 March 1878 a son of Peter and Sarah Ann Baxter. In 1881 his family lived at Barnby and in 1891 they lived at The Crown, Beccles Road, Carlton Colville, where his father was the publican. In 1901 Isaac was the mate on the trawler Speedwell at Newlyn Harbour.  290940 raid
A Civilian, Frank died on 29th of September 1940 aged 47. Frank was born at Lowestoft on 3 June 1893, a son of Charles Pendle and Ellen Sarah Bloomfield. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church on 21 June 1893 and his family lived at 2 Saint George’s Terrace, Beccles Road, and this was still their home in 1901. By 1911 they were living at 29 Saint George’s Terrace and Frank was working as a fisherman. In 1939 Frank’s parents lived at 59 Gorleston Road, Oulton. In 1913 Frank was awarded his certificate of competency as a Second Hand.  290940 raid
A Civilian, James died on 29th of September 1940 at the age of 54. James was born at Lowestoft on 1 March 1886, a son of Joseph and Angetta Roope. In 1891 his family lived at 47 Queen's Road, Lowestoft, and this was still their home in 1901 when James worked as a railway clerk, and in 1911 when James worked as a tram conductor with Lowestoft Borough Council.James served for three years in the Norfolk Volunteers. In 1912 James married Bertha Chapman. They lived at Wellington Cottage, Pakefield Road, Lowestoft.  290940 raid
A Civilian, Edward died on 29th of November 1940 aged 39. Edward was born at Oulton Broad on 31 July 1901, a son of Herbert Wallace and Eliza Greengrass. He was baptised at Saint Mark’s Church on 29 September 1901 and his family lived at Carlton Colville. In 1917 his family lived at 16 Kimberley Road. In 1938 Edward married Ethel Alice Turner, this was registered in the Lothingland district. In 1939 they lived at 155A The Avenue and Edward was a general labourer and fish worker.   291140 raid
A Civilian, George died on 29th of November 1940 at the age of 38. George was born at Norwich on 26 August 1902, a son of George Henry and Priscilla Wright. On 26 April 1909 when George, and his older brother Arthur, became pupils at Saint Margaret’s School, Lowestoft, and his family lived at ‘Norwich House’.The 1911 Census shows his family living at 13 Pigg’s Lane, Norwich. By 1921 his family was living at 28 White Horse Street, Lowestoft, and George worked as a carter for Ellis and Sons at Whapload Road. 291140 raid

A Civilian, Harry died on 18th of November 1940 aged 10. Harry was born at Great Yarmouth on 23 July 1930, a son of Percy Oliver and Lily May Hoyle. In 1939 his family lived at 3 Davy Cottages, High Street, Gorleston. Harry’s maternal grandmother, Althea Sarbutt, nee James, lived at 63 Raglan Street.It appears that Harry was visiting Lowestoft and was outside the naval base, on Battery Green Road, when he was injured in an air raid and he died the same day at the Lowestoft and North Suffolk Hospital. 181140 Raid, Pic recently added
A Civilian, Ernest died on 17th of March 1944, at the age of 50. Ernest was born at Herringfleet on 28 January 1894, a son of George and Julia Folkard. He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church, Herringfleet, on 1 April 1894. In 1901 his family lived at Herringleet Road, Herringfleet, and in 1911 at 11 Sunny Bank Cottages, Herringfleet, and Ernest worked as a farm labourer. Ernest served in the Army during World War One. Initially he served with the Army Service Corps and then the Royal Irish Fusiliers. He was discharged, because of wounds, on 28 October 1918. 181140 Raid
A Civilian, George died on 3rd of July 1940. Aged 18 months.George was born at Lowestoft on 5 December 1939, a son of George William and Doris M. Youngman. In 1939 they lived at 18 Rant Score East.George died at 14 Rant Score East along with his grandmother Beatrice Baster and his aunt Evelyn Baster.  030740 raid
