Robert Elijah Kights Ward

A Deck Hand, Robert died on 20th of March 1941 at the age of 61.Robert was born at Carlton Colville on 2 December 1879, a son of Robert and Elizabeth Ward. In 1881 his family lived at Back Lane, Barnby, and by 1891 had moved to Bell Yard, Carlton Colville. Robert was a fisherman. Robert married Daisy Blanche Friston at Saint Peter and Saint John's Church, Kirkley, on 10 February 1903. In 1911 they were living at 18 Oaklands Terrace, London Road, Kessingland, and by 1915 they were living at 26 Southwell Road, Kirkley. nopic

Katie Maria Crawford

Katie died on 9th August 1915 at the age of 18.Katie, known as Kate, was born at Pakefield on 24 April 1898, a daughter of Frederick Sidney and Jane Elizabeth Crawford of 18 Oaklands Terrace, Kessingland. Katie worked as a live-in kitchen maid for Arthur Stebbings who had a shop at 12 Lovewell Road, Kirkley. At 10.30 p.m. on Monday 9th August 1915 a German zeppelin bombed Lowestoft. One of the bombs fell on 12 Lovewell Road and Kate was killed. Her death certificate notes her cause of death as: nopic

Charles William Porter

A Private, Charles died on 8th of December 1944 at the age of 30. Charles was born at Lowestoft on 7 April 1914, a son of John and Violet Mabel Porter. He was baptised at Saint Margaret's Church on 24 April 1914 and his family lived at 70 Stanley Street. William George Robbens

A Private with 6th Bn., William died on 18th of September 1918 at the age of 32. William was born at Lowestoft on 17 August 1886, a son of James and Louisa Maria Robbens. On 10 September 1886 he was baptised at Saint John's Church, Lowestoft, and his family lived at 40 Clemence Street. In 1891 his family lived at 42 Clemence Street, Lowestoft. By 1901 they were living at 13 Sandringham Road, and William was a cycle maker's apprentice. In 1911 they lived at 64 Tonning Street, Lowestoft, and William was a fish worker/curer. nopic

A Private with the 1/5th Battalion, Harold died on 19th of April 1917 at the age of 21. Harold was born at Snape, Suffolk, in 1896, a son of Edward and Annie Maria Smith. In 1901 his family lived at Farnham Road, Snape. By 1911 they were living at 3 Sizewell Road, Leiston, and Harold was a brickmaker’s labourer. Freda Coralie Martha Coates

A Wren with H.M.S. Minos, Freda died on 26th of April 1941, aged 35. Freda was born at Lowestoft on 26 May 1905, a daughter of William Alexander and Alice Elizabeth Coates. She was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church on 15 June 1905 and her family lived at 45 Princes Road and this was still her family home in 1939. Harry Reynolds

A Lance Corporal with 51st Bn., Harry died on 24th of April 1918 at the age of 26. Harry was born at Lowestoft on 1 July 1891, a son of Walter and Harriett Reynolds. In 1901 his family lived at Wards Cottages, Clapham Road, Lowestoft. Harry attended Lowestoft School of Art and he left to become a dentist's apprentice and his Australian Army service papers show that he had served an apprenticeship with 'Targitt' (sic) at Lowestoft. nopic
