A Civilian, Alan died on 21st of August 1940 at the age of 19. 

Alan was born at Pakefield on 27 July 1921, a son of Walter Allen and Annie Gertrude Gosling. He was baptised at All Saints’ Church, Pakefield, on 11 September 1921, and his family lived at 20 Wellington Road. By 1939 his family were living at The Jolly Sailors, Pakefield Street, where his father was the licensee, and Alan was an apprentice engineering fitter.

On 21 August 1940 German aircraft dropped twelve high explosive bombs in the vicinity of Harvey, Wilson and Osborne Shipwrights and Jewson’s Timber Yard at Horn Hill. Alan was killed at the Harvey, Wilson and Osborne air raid shelter. In that raid six people, including Alan, were killed and seven injured.

For info, I have informed the CWG about the incorrect spellings of Alan Walter and Walter Allen. I will advise when they get back to me (been a few months already!)
