Victor Edward Blowers
A Lance Corporal with 1st Bn. Victor died on 30th of June 1918 at the age of 22.
Victor was born at Kessingland in 1896, a son of Thomas Edward and Mabel Ethel Blowers. He was baptised at Saint Edmund's Church, Kessingland, on 3 May 1896. In 1901 his family were living at The Beach, Kessingland, and this was still their address in 1911, when Victor worked as an errand boy. Later his parents lived at 4 Geneva Cottages, Kessingland.
Sidney Quantrill Burgess
A Private with 1st Battalion, Sidney died on 22nd of July 1916 at the age of 24.
Sidney was born at Lowestoft on 21 September 1894, a son of John and Susannah Burgess. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 23 October 1891 and his family lived at Gordon House, Princess Road. Sidney was a pupil at Clapham Road School and, on 1 February 1898, became a pupil at Saint Margaret’s School. In 1911 their address was 11 Princes Road, and Sidney worked as a bottle washer at a ‘licensed premises’.
Edward Arthur Church
A Lance Corporal with the 1st Battalion, Edward died on 23rd of April 1917 at the age of 26.
Edward was born at Kirkley in 1891, a son of George and Louisa Church. In 1891 his family lived at 2 Sayers Cottages, Carlton Road. In 1901 their address was 2 Aston Cottages, Carlton Road. In 1911 Edward worked, and lived, at Wheatacre House, Carlton Colville, where he was a domestic gardener. Edward was a brother of Flora Harriet Lennox, formerly Church, and Charles Church, of Myrtle Cottages, Barnby, Beccles, Suffolk.
Ernest Edward Forster
A Corporal with the 1st Battalion, Ernest died on 4th of May 1918 aged 30.
Ernest was born at Lowestoft on 27 August 1887, a son of John and Charlotte Forster. He was baptised at Christ Church, Lowestoft, on 2 February 1888 and his family lived at East Raglan Street. In 1891 his family lived at 40 Queens Road and in 1901 at 16 Queens Road.
Ronald Knights
A Private with the 1st Battalion, died on 4th of January 1917 at the age of 29.
Ronald was born at Kessingland on 6 December 1887, a son of Samuel and Mary Knights. He was baptised at Saint Edmund’s Church, Kessingland, on 16 December 1887. In 1891 his family lived at Market Place, Kessingland, and by 1901 at Gladstone Cottages, London Road, Kessingland. They were still living at Gladstone Cottages in 1911 and Ronald was a house painter.

William Thomas Baker
A Private with the 2nd Battalion, William died on 12th of October 1916 at the age of 30.
William was born at Lowestoft on 23 December 1885, a son of William Thomas and Harriet Mary Ann Baker. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 7 March 1886. In 1891 his family lived at 8 Thurlow Road and this was still their home in 1901 when William was an apprentice printer. Later his parents lived at 10 Thurston Road.
Frederick Edward Darkins
A Private with the 2nd Battalion, Frederick died on 19th of October 1918 aged 38.
Frederick was born at Somerleyton on 23 February 1880, a son of Edward John and Harriet Darkins. He was baptised at Saint Mary's Church, Somerleyton, on 11 April 1880. In 1881 his family lived at 6 Old Mill Common, Somerleyton. By 1891 they were living at The Marsh, Blundeston, and in 1901 at Park Cottage, Somerleyton, when Frederick, like his father, was a gamekeeper.
Sydney Arthur Hayes
A Private with the 2nd Battalion, Sydney died on 21st of March 1918 at the age of 36.
Victor Albert Lougo
A Private with 2nd Bn., Victor died on 22nd of March 1918 at the age of 23.
Victor was born at Walpole, Suffolk, in 1895, a son of Alfred and Ellen Lougo. In 1901 his family lived at Walpole Road, Bramfield, and this was still their address in 1911 when Victor worked as a farm labourer. Subsequently his parents lived at Laurel Farm Cottage, London Road, Kessingland.
Victor was living at Blyford when he enlisted in the Army at Bury Saint Edmunds. Victor served with A Company 2nd Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment.
Louis Andrews Spurgeon
A Corporal with the 2nd Battalion, Louis died on 12th of October 1916 at the age of 26.
Louis was born at Lowestoft on 25 February 1890, a son of Frances Elizabth Spurgeon. In 1891 he lived with his mother and brother at 7 Gun Lane, where his mother was housekeeper for William Andrews, and this was still their home in 1901. Louis was a pupil at Christ Church School and became a pupil at Saint Margaret’s School on 27 April 1896. In 1911 Louis’ family were still at 7 Gun Lane, and Louis worked as a wood sawyer at a saw mill. Later his mother lived at 17 Chapel Street, Lowestoft.

Albert Boaz Townsend Hart
A Private with the 4th Battalion, Albert died on 24th of March 1918 at the age of 38.
Albert was born at Lowestoft in 1880, a son of George Henry and Mary Elizabeth Hart. In 1881 his family lived at 2 Fenton Terrace, Raglan Street. By 1891 they were living at 46 Tonning Street, where his father had a shop. In 1901 they were still living at 46 Tonning Street and Albert was a fish packer. Both of Albert’s parents died in 1904. By 1915 Albert was a milk seller at 41 Tonning Street, and is believed to have been employed by John Oldrin of Rushmere.
Andrew Spurgeon
A Private with the 4th Battalion, Andrew died on 27th of September 1918 at the age of 19.
Andrew was born at Lowestoft on 5 March 1899, a son of Frances Elizabth Spurgeon. In 1901 he lived with his mother and brother at 7 Gun Lane, where his mother was housekeeper for William Andrews, and this was still their home in 1911. Andrew was a pupil at Church Road School and became a pupil at Saint Margaret’s School on 29 October 1906. Later his mother lived at 17 Chapel Street, Lowestoft.

Percival Albert John Norman
A Private with 4th Battalion, Percival died on 13th of November 1916 at the age of 29.
Percival was born at Kirkley on 8 June 1887, a son of James and Margaret Norman. He was baptised at Christchurch, Lowestoft, on 21 November 1888 and his family lived at 59 Reeve Street. By 1901 his family were living at 10 Reeve Street.

Ernest Andrew Payne
A Private with the 7th Battalion, Ernest died on 24th of April 1918 at the age of 25.
Ernest was born Stotfold, Bedfordshire in 1892, a son of Andrew and Minnie Payne. In 1901 his family lived at The Crofts, Stotfold, and this was still their address in 1911 when Ernest worked as a butcher.
Leslie Thomas Reeve
A Private with 7th Battalion, Leslie died on 3rd of May 1917 at the age of 28.
Leslie was born at Lowestoft in 1889, a son of Thomas and Elizabeth Reeve. In 1891 his family lived at 3 The Prairie, Lowestoft. By 1901 his father had died, and his family lived at 49 Nelson Street. By 1911 they were living at 1 Freemantle Road, and Leslie, with his brother Kingsley had their own tobacconist business. Later Leslie’s mother lived at 'Jerningham', Warren Road, Corton Road, Lowestoft and the late Thomas Reeve

Leonard Dolman
A 2nd Lieutenant with the 8th Battalion, Leonard died of wounds on 31st of December 1917 at the age of 28.
Leonard was born at Rumburgh, Suffolk, in 1889, a son of Philip William and Emm Jane Dolman. In 1891 his family lived at the Farm House, Rumburgh, and in 1901 at Tivetshall Road, Pulham Saint Mary Magdalen. Later his family lived at Gisleham, before moving to Pulham Market, Norfolk. He was a brother of Gertrude Smith of The Hollies, Black Street, Gisleham. Leonard worked as a school teacher.
William Howe
A Private with the 8th Battalion, William died on 18th of April 1917 at the age of 30.
William was born at Lowestoft on 22 February 1887, a son of William and Louisa Etherly Howe. He was baptised at Christchurch, Lowestoft, on 16 March 1887 and his family lived at Stanford Street. In 1893 his family lived at Burcham Square. By 1897 William’s parents had separated and his father lived at 13 Crown Street. It seems that in 1901 William was a twine spinner lodging with Robert and Charlotte Harness at Goodrum’s Buildings. William’s mother died in 1902.
Ernest James Pearson
A Private with the 8th Battalion, Ernest died on 5th of February 1917 at the age of 30.
Ernest was born at Blundeston in 1886, a son of David and Harriet Pearson. In 1891 his family lived at High Street, Blundeston, and by 1901 at Lound Road, Blundeston. In 1911 they were still living at Lound Road and Ernest was a milkman on a farm.
Ernest enlisted in the Army at Bury St. Edmunds. He joined the Bedfordshire Regiment, service number 33226. He was posted to France and joined the 8th Battalion.
Depot
Arthur Cable
A Private with the Depot, Arthur died on 4th of December 1916 at the age of 40.
Arthur was born at Heckingham, Norfolk, in 1876, a son of Rebecca Cable. In 1881 his family lived at Thurlton, Norfolk. For a time in 1886 Arthur and his mother were living at Heckingham Workhouse and Arthur was still there in 1891. By 1896 he had moved to Lowestoft and it seems that whenever he lived in Lowestoft he stayed with his sister Emma Swatman. By 1911 Emma was living at 131 Raglan Street.
