James Buxton

A Deck Hand with Dredger Mercurius (London), James died on 28th of June 1916 at the age of 61.

James was born at Norwich in 1855, a son of William and Sarah Buxton. In 1861 his family lived at Greyhound Lane, Heigham, Norwich. By 1871 they were living at West End Street, Norwich, and James was a bricklayer’s labourer. 

In 1881 James was the Mate on the trawler Effort. 

On 20 November 1882 James married Eliza Elizabeth Rounce at Saint Peter’s Church, Kirkley. James was a fisherman and they both lived at Kirkley. In 1891 they lived at 35 Saint Leonards Road.

Robert Newson

A Mate with Steam Trawler Ranter (North Shields), Robert died on 12th of December 1917 at the age of 61. 

Robert was born at Lowestoft in 1856, a son of Benjamin and Priscilla Newson. He was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Kirkley, on 4 July 1858. In 1861 his family lived at South Union Place, Kirkley. By 1871 they were living at 22 Stevens Street, and Robert was a fisherman. Later Robert’s parents lived at 31 Southwell Road. 

Rosina Smith

A Civilian, Rosina died on 15th of February 1941 aged 61. 

Rosina was born at Great Yarmouth on 19 July 1879, a daughter of George Edward and Priscilla Easter. She was baptised at Saint Nicholas’ Church, Great Yarmouth on 25 August 1879, and her family lived at Row 101. By 1881 they were living at Wesleyan Chapel Lane, Lowestoft. In 1891 they lived at 48 Mariners Street and by 1898 their home was at 30 Factory Street. 

William Charles Tuttle

A Master with Trinity House Vessel Alert (London), William died on 6th of March 1945 at the age of 61.

William was born at Lowestoft on 24 December 1883, a son of Harry and Ann Elizabeth Tuttle.

William attended Christchurch School and, on 17 February 1890, became a pupil at Saint Margaret’s School, and his family lived at 2 White Horse Street. In 1891 his family lived at 18 Wrayburn Street, West Derby, Liverpool. By 1901 they had returned to Lowestoft, and lived at 22 Factory Street, and William was a seaman.

Robert Elijah Kights Ward

A Deck Hand, Robert died on 20th of March 1941 at the age of 61.

Robert was born at Carlton Colville on 2 December 1879, a son of Robert and Elizabeth Ward. In 1881 his family lived at Back Lane, Barnby, and by 1891 had moved to Bell Yard, Carlton Colville. 

Robert was a fisherman. 

Robert married Daisy Blanche Friston at Saint Peter and Saint John's Church, Kirkley, on 10 February 1903. In 1911 they were living at 18 Oaklands Terrace, London Road, Kessingland, and by 1915 they were living at 26 Southwell Road, Kirkley.
