Emma was born at Ellingham, Norfolk, on 27 May 1890, a daughter of James and Rahcel Spall Whaley. She was baptised at Ellingham on 9 September 1890. In 1891 her family lived at Geldeston Road, Ellingham and this was still their address in 1901.
In 1901 Emma married Ernest Harry Beard, this was registered in the Mutford district. In 1911 they lived at 11 Laundry Lane, Lowestoft, and by 1921 they were living at the rear of 74 High Street. In 1939 their home was at 8 Queens Road. Ernest died on 10 January 1942.
Arthur William Brock
A Private with 53 Protection Company, Arthur died on 21st of March 1918 at the age of 51.
Arthur was born at Kessingland on 15 September 1866, a son of William and Anna Maria Brock. He was baptised at Saint Edmund’s Church, Kessingland, on 25 November 1866. In 1871 his family lived ‘by the Turnpike’, Kessingland, and in 1881 at The Street, Kessingland.
George Bryant

George was born at Barnby in 1865, a son of John and Eliza Bryant. In 1871 his family lived at Beccles Road, Barnby. In 1881 he was the cook on the trawler ‘James William’ of Lowestoft.
In the later 1880s George worked as a trimmer for the P and O Line and he worked on the liner Ocean Queen before, in 1889, joining the liner Servia.
Alice Maud Mary Edwards
A Civilian, Alice died on 12th of May 1943 at the age of 51.
Alice was born at Lowestoft on 6 October 1891, a daughter of Hyrum and Frances Rand. In 1901 her family lived at 4Gladstone Cottages, Tonning Street. By 1911 Alice was lodging with James and Caroline Reeve at 4 Raglan Cottages, Raglan Street, and Alice was a domestic servant.
Thomas Augustine French
A Captain with S.S. Rubens, Thomas died on 8th of October 1915 at the age of 51.
Thomas was born at Lowestoft on 15 May 1864, a son of Thomas Turner and Maria Elizabeth French. In 1881 his family lived at Ivy Cottage, Denmark Road, Lowestoft. Later his parents lived at 8 Wellington Esplanade, Lowestoft.
On 31 July 1880 Thomas began a four-year Merchant Navy apprenticeship with J. Corry of London.
Thomas was awarded his Mate’s Certificate on 14 June 1888.
Emily Sarah Pinkney
A Civilian, Emily died on 13th of January 1942 at the age of 51.
Emily was born at Carlton Colville on 25 February 1890, a daughter of Christopher and Sarah Sadler. She was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Carlton Colville, on 8 June 1890. In 1891 her family lived at Ivy Farm, Carlton Colville, and this was still their home in 1901. In 1911 Emily worked as a parlourmaid for Reverend Pearson, and family, at The Rectory, Castle Camps, Cambridgeshire. In 1921 she lived with her parents at Camden House, Beccles Road, Oulton Broad. In the summer of 1921 Emily married Edward Pinkney.
Arthur Sharman
A Second Hand with H.M. Drifter Lindsell. Arthur died on 3rd of September 1914 at the age of 51.
Arthur was born at Gisleham in 1863, a son of Shadrach William and Mary Ann Sharman. He was baptised at Holy Trinity Church, Gisleham, on 31 January 1864. In 1871 his family lived at Gisleham.
By 1881 Arthur was a fisherman working on the trawler Blue Bell of Lowestoft.
