Ambrose Crake

A Private with the 1/7th Battalion, Ambrose died on 14th of April 1918 at the age of 25. 

Ambrose was born at Lowestoft in 1893, a son of James and Elizabeth Crake. In 1901 his family lived at 2 Albert Street, Lowestoft. In 1901 they were living at 98 Alexandra Road and Ambrose was a twine-spinner. By 1916 his family were living at 113 Wollaston Road.

A Second Lieutenant with the 11th Battalion, David died on 15th of October 1917 at the age of 26.

CHARLES SAUNDERS

Charles Saunders

A Second Lieutenant with the 15th Battalion , Charles died on 1st of July 1916 at the age of 28.

Charles was born at Lowestoft on 30 January 1888, a son of Benjamin and Maria Saunders. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, on 30 March 1888. In 1891 they lived at 133 High Street, and this was still their home in 1901. By 1911 they were living at 28 Lyndhurst Road.

In 1911 Charles worked as a bank clerk, for Barclays Bank, at Beccles and lived at Hermon, Waveney Road, Beccles.

Christopher Frank Phillips

A Private with the 2nd Battalion, Christopher died on 24th of April 1918 at the age of 22. 

Christopher was born at Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1896, a son of Richard Samuel and Margaret Hannah Coker Phillips. In 1901 his family lived at 87 Vine Street, Wallsend. In 1902 Richard’s father died and subsequently his mother married Robert Taylor. In 1911 the family lived at 17 Ontario Road, Lowestoft, and Christopher was an oilman’s assistant. Later his family lived at 11 Norfolk Street.
