William Edward Charles Barnard

A Civilian, William died on 26th of May 1941 at the age of 63. 

William was born at Kirkley on 4 October 1879, a son of William and Eliza Barnard. He was baptised at Saint John's Church on 17 September 1880 and his family lived at Richmond Terrace. In 1881 they were living at 14 Haward Street. By 1891 William's father had died and he lived with his mother at 3 Chester Cottages, Lovewell Road. 

From 12 July 1893 William was a fishing apprentice working for Alfred J. Britteon. 

Robert Alwood Bennett

A Third Hand with Sailing Trawler Young Bert (Lowestoft), Robert died on 30th of July 1917 aged 63. 

Robert was born at Lowestoft in 1854, a son of William and Elizabeth Bennett. In 1861 his family lived at 39 Clemence Street. In 1871 was working on the trawler Phoebe at Ramsgate, Kent.  

On 11 July 1872 Robert married Ann Elizabeth Smith at Saint Margaret’s Church. Robert was a seaman and they both lived at Lowestoft. By 1891 their home was at 15 Prospect Place, Pakefield. In 1901 they lived at 60 Lorne Park Road and by 1911 at 6 Kendal Road.

Leonard Martin Holbrook Dowding

A Mate, Leonard died on the 5th of February 1944 aged 63. 

Leonard was born at Kessingland on 9 August 1880, a son of George and Sarah Amelia Dowding. He was baptised at Saint Edmund’s Church, Kessingland, on 3 September 1880 along with his twin brother George. In 1881 his family lived at Beach Road, Kessingland, and in 1891 their address was ‘by sea’ Kessingland. 

By 1901 Leonard was working as a fisherman and in that year he worked on the trawler Belle, LT 167, at Newlyn, Cornwall. 

Reason John Gooding

Reason John Gooding

A Cook with Fishing Vessel S.D.J. (Lowestoft), Reason died on 11th of May 1947 aged 63. 

Reason was born at Snape, Suffolk, on 28 November 1883, a son of William and Mary Ann Gooding. In 1891 his family lived at Gromford, Snape, and by 1901 they were living at Church Common, Snape, and Reason was an agricultural labourer. 

William Henry Hills

Skipper of the Trawler Ivy (Lowestoft), William died on 17th of December 1914 at the age of 63. 

William was born at Saint Lawrence, Thanet, in 1851, a son of Daniel and Harriet Hills. In 1861 his family lived at 2 Holly Cottages, Deal Kent.  

William Smith

A Civilian, William died on 15th of February 1941, at the age of 63. 

William was born at Lowestoft on 28 June 1877, a son of Samuel Smith. William worked as a fisherman. 

William married Rosina Easter at Saint Margaret's Church on 30 January 1898. In 1901 they lived at 26 Factory Street and by 1911 were living at 15 Duke's Head Street, and this was still their home in 1921.
