A Leading Seaman with H.M. Trawler Lord Stamp. John died on 14th of October 1940 at the age of 22. 

John was born at London on 4 February 1918, a son of Herbert John and Lily Blanche Bryant. He was baptised at Christ Church, Rotherhithe, on 24 February 1918 and his family lived at 12 Gomm (sic) Road, Rotherhithe. By 1921 his family was living at 66 Crown Street, Lowestoft, and by 1939 they were living at 185 Saint Peter's Street, Lowestoft.

John served on the mine-sweeping trawler Lord Stamp. On 14 October 1940 the Lord Stamp struck a mine and sank in the English Channel with the loss of 25 crew including John.
