1st Bn.

Archdale Albert Morse

A Lance Corporal with 1st Bn. Archdale died on 14th of September 1914 at the age of 29. 

Archdale was born at Henstead in 1885, a son of George and Charlotte Morse. He was baptised at Henstead on 8 February 1885. In 1891 his family lived at Henstead. By 1901 his father had died and his mother remarried and his family lived near the Bell Inn at Carlton Colville and Archdale worked as a general labourer. Later their address was 1 Bell Cottage, Carlton Colville.

2nd Bn.

Henry Charles Butcher

A Private with the 2nd Battalion, Henry died on 30th of November 1917 at the age of 19. 

Henry was born at Kessingland in 1898, a son of Charles and Henrietta Butcher. He was baptised at Saint Edmund’s Church, Kessingland, on 17 April 1898. In 1901 his family lived at High Street, Kessingland. In 1911 their address was ‘near the Blacksmith’s Shop, Kessingland.’ Later his mother lived at London Road, Kessingland.

Charles Henry Houghton

A Guardsman with the 2nd Battalion, Charles died on 9th of December 1944 aged 20. 

Charles was born at Lowestoft on 30 October 1924, a son of Harry and Ethel May Houghton. In 1939 his family lived at 5 Turner Cottages, Saint John's Road.

Charles was a labourer when he attested for the Army at Norwich on 23 February 1943. He joined the Coldstream Guards to serve four years with the Colours and eight with the Reserve. He served in Italy with the 2nd Battalion.

Thomas Rickard Jackson

A Captain with the 2nd Battalion, Thomas died on 10th of February 1944 at the age of 23.

Thomas was born at Herringfleet on 3 February 1921, a son of Brigadier-General Sir Thomas Dare Jackson D.S.O. M.V.O. 2nd Bt. and of Lady Jackson (nee Massy Lloyd). His family’s home, throughout Julius’ life, was at Herringfleet Hall, Blocka Road, Herringfleet. Thomas was a student at Trinity College, Cambridge.

John Henry Collins

A Private with the 3rd Battalion, John died on 30th of November 1917 at the age of 19.

John was born at Saint Leonards, Sussex, on 3 May 1898, a son of George and Ann Elizabeth Burgess. He was baptised at Saint Emmanual’s Church, Hastings, on 12 June 1898 and his family lived at 4 Plynlimmon Road, Hastings. In 1901 his family lived at 212 Melbourne Road, Leicester. By 1911 they had moved to Lowestoft and lived at 30 Sussex Road. Later his parents lived at 15 Grove Road.
