6th Bn.

Artis Robert Pearson

A Private with the 6th Battalion, Artis died on 14th of October 1916 at the age of 21. 

Artis was born at Blundeston in 1895, a son of Daniel William and Emma Artis Pearson. He was baptised at Saint Mary’s Church, Blundeston, on 5 May 1895. In 1901 his family lived at Reeves House, Oulton Road, and by 1911 at Meadow Cottage, Oulton Road, and Artis worked as a farm labourer.

Albert Arthur Buck

A Sergeant with the 7th Battalion, Albert died on 8th of February 1917 at the age of 29. 

Albert was born at Lowestoft on 1 March 1890, a son of James and Alice Buck. He was baptised at Saint Margaret’s Church on 16 August 1891, and his family lived at Oulton Corner. In 1901 his family lived at Hall Lane, Oulton. By 1911 his family were living at 3 Hall Lane, Oulton. By 1911 Albert was lodging with William Hunton, and family, at the Farm, Thornton Hill, Easingwold, Yorkshire.

Bertie Wilfred Theodore Manning

A Private with the 9th Battalion, Bertie died on 5th of October 1918 aged 26. 

Bertie was born at Carlton Colville in 1892, a son of George and Matilda Frances Manning. He was baptised at Saint Peter’s Church, Carlton Colville, on 10 September 1893. In 1901 his family lived at Worcester Terrace, Carlton Colville. By 1911 they were living at 10 Severn Terrace, Kirkley Run, and Bertie was a labourer.

Henry Taylor

A Private with the 9th Battalion, Henry died on 1st of August 1916 at the age of 22. 

Henry, who was often known as Harry, was born at Stradbroke, Suffolk, in 1893, a son of Henry and Jemima Taylor. In 1901 his family lived at Swan Green Road, Cratfeld, Suffolk. By 1911 they had moved to Burnt Hill Pit, Beccles Road, Oulton Road, Lowestoft, and Henry was a cowman on a farm.

Henry volunteered and was enlisted in the Yorkshire Regiment at Thirsk, with service number 14625. He arrived in France, with the 9th Battalion, on 26 August 1915.
